Maha Kumbh is considered the largest gathering of Gurus, saints, and devotees to attain spiritual knowledge. The Maha Kumbh Mela is held every 12 years at one of the four locations in India. This year's Maha Kumbh began on Paush Purnima on January 13, 2025. Several devotees across the world attended the event in search of spirituality and moksha, which is considered the ultimate destination for any soul. And the late Apple co-founder, Steve Jobs' wife, Laurene Powell, also marked her presence.
Laurene Powell was left in awe seeing the huge crowd at the Maha Kumbh. However, Laurene got sick as she developed allergies on the second day at Maha Kumbh in Prayagraj, Uttar Pradesh. It happened after she took a dip in the Ganga river on the second day.
Spiritual guru Swami Kailashanand Giri, in an interview with the ANI, revealed that she participated in the ritual of taking a dip at the Sangam and has been resting in his shiver. However, since she had never been to a crowded place, she developed allergies. He revealed that the tradition influenced her to join the Maha Kumbh. He said:
"She will participate in the ritual of taking a dip (at the Sangam). She is resting in my 'shivir'. She has some allergies. She has never been to such a crowded place. She is quite simple. She stayed with us during the pooja. Our tradition is such that those who have never seen it - they all want to join."
This year's Maha Kumbh is a rare event that occurred after 144 years. Talking about Steve Jobs' wife was named 'Kamala' by her Guru, Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri. She would be staying in the Kumbh's tent city at the Niranjini Akhara camp till January 15, 2025. After which, she would return to the US to attend the swearing ceremony of the recently elected president, Donald Trump.
Mahamandaleshwar Swami Kailashanand Giri revealed that his shishya was a simple, virtuous, and humble woman. He described her as free from ego and fully devoted. He also revealed that she has a keen interest in Sanatan Dharam. He said:

"She has a new name here, Kamla. She is very simple, soft and bereft of ego and is here as she was inspired by the timeless sanatani culture."
Despite being the richest woman in the world, it was Laurene Powell's curiosity to attain spiritual knowledge that brought her to Maha Kumbh. Swami Kailashanad Giri revealed she doesn't believe in show off, as she dressed simply and conducted herself gracefully. He said:
"Her quest for spirituality brought her here. The way she has conducted herself in the akhara makes it clear that despite being among the world's richest and most famous, she is sans all ego and does not show-off. Here she dresses simply and conducts herself gracefully."
