Vikrant Massey To Play Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, Know How He Started The Art Of Living Foundation

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, the founder of the Art of Living Foundation, is a spiritual leader and a yoga guru. Not only in India, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar holds worldwide recognition. With the establishment of the Art of Living Foundation, the spiritual guru is maintaining 44 years of legacy in transforming more than 80 crore lives. The non-profit organisation presently has more than 10,000 centres in 180 countries, including India, South America and Africa.

For the unversed, during the mid-70s, Gurudev Sri Sri Ravi Shankar worked as an apprentice under Maharishi Mahesh Yogi, the founder of Transcendental Meditation. Ravi Shankar is also well-known for his motivational speeches on various topics that are relevant in this 21st century. Promoting peace and non-violence is the top priority of the 68-year-old spiritual leader.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s early life and education

The humanitarian leader, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar, was born on May 13, 1956, in Papanasam, Tamil Nadu. The spiritual guru was born on Sunday, so he was named Ravi and the last name ‘Shankar’ was kept after Adi Sankara, the eighth-century Hindu saint. Gurudev Ravi Shankar was considered to be a gifted child. For the uninitiated, at the tender age of 4, the spiritual leader could recite parts of the Bhagavad Gita, an ancient Sanskrit scripture. From a very young age, he was often found in deep meditation.

Sri Sri Ravi Shankar’s first teacher was Sudhakar Chaturvedi, a close associate of Mahatma Gandhi. Moving on to educational qualifications, as per several reports, the spiritual guru holds a bachelor's degree in Science from St. Joseph’s College of Bengaluru University. He also holds a degree in Vedic literature and physics.

In 1981, Sri Sri Ravi Shankar founded the Art of Living Foundation as an international, non-profit, educational and humanitarian organisation after leaving the Transcendental Meditation. With a motto to eliminate stress and develop a violence-free society, the spiritual leader founded this organisation. Art of Living Foundation helps in finding solutions for stress, depression, mental health, relationships, weight loss, back pain, parenting, sleep and many more. From beginner to advanced levels, this organisation provides meditation and yoga programs.

In 1997, Gurudev co-founded the International Association of Human Values (IAHV), the sister organisation of Art of Living Foundation. The IAHV organisation was founded by Sri Sri Ravi Shankar with the aim to bring change in people’s lives by coordinating sustainable development projects and providing conflict resolutions. Some programs offered by the IAHV organisation include youth empowerment initiatives for schools, prisoner rehabilitation and trauma relief for veterans, disaster relief, and many more.

Vikrant Massey to play Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on screen in his upcoming film, White

12th Fail actor, Vikrant Massey is all set to play Sri Sri Ravi Shankar on screen in his upcoming International thriller, White. According to Pinkvilla reports, renowned director, Siddharth Anand is collaborating with producer, Mahaveer Jain for their upcoming International thriller, White, revolving around the life story of the spiritual leader Ravi Shankar. Sources say that the pre-production of the film has already started. Vikrant Massey, too, officially signed to play the lead role. Speaking of the same, a source said:

“Vikrant Massey will be seen playing the part of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar in this global thriller, scheduled to go on floors in July. The prep work is currently going on in full swing in Colombia, and the makers intend to bring in an international cast and crew from LA to depict the true story from the life of Sri Sri Ravi Shankar.”
