Sreeleela Speaks Out About 'Jana Nayagan' Being A 'Bhagavanth Kesari' Remake, 'Everybody Should...'

Sreeleela is one of the most renowned actresses in the South Indian film industry. However, she is most prominently known for her work in Telugu films. She made her acting debut in 2017 with Chitrangada. Two years later, Sreeleela landed her first lead role in Bhuvan Govda's film, Kiss. While she is all set to appear in director, Sudha Kongara's Parasakthi, alongside Sivakarathkeyan, Atharvaa, and Ravi Mohan, it is her 2023 film, Bhagavanth Kesari, that has been getting the spotlight once again. This is because fans began noticing similarities between Jana Nayagan, starring Thalapathy Vijay, and Bhagavanth Kesari, prompting speculation that it is a remake. Now, Sreeleela recently commented on the same.  

Sreeleela reveals being excited to watch Jana Nayagan  

Jana Nayagan is one of the most anticipated movies of 2026. Before its theatrical release on January 9, 2026, the film, which is directed by filmmaker, H Vinoth and stars superstar, Thalapathy Vijay, dropped its trailer on January 3, 2026. According to reports, the trailer gained 5 million views within 5 minutes. It also eventually became the most-watched Tamil film trailer in the span of 24 hours, gaining more than 83.7 million views across three languages. Since the release of the trailer, many fans have noticed the similarities between Jana Nayagan and the 2023 film, Bhagavanth Kesari, directed by Anil Ravipudi and starring Sreeleela. After days of online speculation, the actress recently briefly addressed the matter.  

In a conversation with Cineulagam, Sreeleela started by complimenting actor, Thalapathy Vijay. She called him “an emotion” and revealed that she was immensely excited to watch his upcoming film, Jana Nayagan, before the release of her own film, Parasakthi. Naturally, the reason for this is that she is “a big fan of Vijay sir,” like the rest of us. Since he is starring in the remake of her film, Bhagavanth Kesari, she thinks it is remarkable in itself. Furthermore, she even urged her fans to watch the movie. In her words: 

“The movie, Bhagavanth Kesari, being remade with him is so great. Everybody should watch Jana Nayagan, it's a must.”  

The 24-year-old actress's comments come shortly after Sahu Garapati, Bhagavanth Kesari's producer, confirmed to the entertainment portal, Cinema Express, that Jana Nayagan is a remake of their film. To point out the similarities, Nandamuri Balakrishna’s character, ‘Nelakonda’, acts as a father figure to Sreeleela's ‘Vijayalakshmi’, better known as ‘Viji’ in the Telugu film. Similarly, in the Thalapathy Vijay starrer, the actor also has a daughter with the same name as Sreeleela's character, that is ‘Viji’. 

Sreeleela sings praises for her co-star, Sivakarthikeyan 

After praising Thalapathy Vijay, Sreeleela quickly moved on to her Parasakthi co-star, Sivakarthikeyan. For him, too, she only had the nicest things to say. She revealed that the actor is not only “very down to earth,” but also extremely respectful as a person. In fact, she added that she has never seen Sivakarthikeyan get upset at anything or anyone. Taking note of the strong devotion of his fan base, Sreeleela stated:  

“The man's fan following is so strong that they post pictures and tag him. It's so sweet to see the love they have.”
