Sourav Ganguly's Car Collides With Lorry, Narrowly Escapes Accident With No Injuries

Sourav Ganguly, the former captain of the Indian Cricket team, narrowly escaped a major car accident that took place on the Durgapur Expressway on February 20, 2025. Ganguly was headed to Burdwan for a university programme when his car reportedly crashed into a high-speeding lorry. The former Indian cricketer was left unhurt and had a narrow death escape. 'Dada' was lucky to have escaped the mishap.

How did Sourav Ganguly's car collide with the lorry?

According to an India Today report, the alleged incident occurred at Datanpur. A lorry overtook Ganguly's car, making 'Dada's' driver apply the brakes immediately. Due to this prompt reaction, a chain of events occurred, where the cars behind Ganguly's convoy collided with one another, and his vehicle was also hit. By the grace of God, no one suffered injuries in the accident. However, two cars in Ganguly's convoy received little damage. Ganguly had to wait on the road for 10 minutes before he began proceeding towards Burdwan University, where he attended a scheduled function.

Sourav had met with an unforeseen incident, and despite the mishap, he kept his calm demeanour and carried ahead his professional commitments. Sourav went to Burdwan per his plan schedule, spoke to the students and dignitaries present at the function, and discussed the future of Indian cricket. He shared an array of anecdotes from his glorious cricket career. Sourav, known for his calm and composed nature, handled the entire incident with a lot of patience and poise before returning back to his professional duties. According to a report by the Hindustan Times, Sourav said:

“I am overwhelmed. It feels great to be in Burdwan. I am even more happy that you invited me. BDS (Burdwan Sports Association) was asking me to come for a long time. It feels great to be here today. CAB has been working with the Burdwan sports organization for 50 years. Many players have emerged from the district. We will have to recruit players from the district in the same way in the future as well.” 

When Sourav Ganguly's daughter, Sana met with an accident

It was on January 3, 2025 when Ganguly's daughter, Sana had also met with a road accident. A bus reportedly had hit her vehicle at Diamond Harbour Road in Kolkata. She did not suffer any grave injuries, but her car got damaged because of the hit. Post the accident, the driver of Sana's car chased the bus driver who stopped near Sakher Bazar. The cops then detained the bus driver on the spot.

Sourav Ganguly's life after cricket

Sourav had earlier been in varied cricket administration departments and also was the former BCCI (Board of Control for Cricket in India) President. He has now taken an important role in women's cricket as in October 2024, he was made the 'Director of Cricket' at JSW Sports. He has been responsible for all the cricket ventures, including Women’s Premier League's and Delhi Capitals Women's team. As the 'WPL' season is underway, Ganguly has been mentoring all the cricket players and also has been strategising steps entirely for the Delhi Capitals Women’s team.
