They say your partner needs to be your best friend, your sounding board, your mirror, your strength, your inspiration. You have been all that and more to me. 2018 was a tough year on you but I am so proud of the dignity and courage with which you handled it. Not only did you help me find my own strength, but you imparted that to every soul who followed your life closely. It is never easy to be at the receiving end and yet be so positive and spread so much love. Thank you for being the person you are. On your special day, I wish you all things wonderful, all things love, all things that bring a cheer to you through the year. Coming back to their love story, Goldie had once opened up on how he met his ladylove, Sonali. In an interview with the Filmfare magazine, Goldie had stated that he had bumped into Sonali on the sets of the film, Naaraaz. Goldie had revealed, "I just found her attractive. I still do. Believe it or not, what appealed to me the most was how slowly she ate her food. We were having lunch together and I commented on her eating pace. She got a little upset with my comment. At least, it broke the ice and we started talking. So our first conversation was about food and to date most of the times, we simply talk about food. (Laughs) Now, most of it is about how little I should eat." (Also Read: Disha Vakani Of 'Taarak Mehta...' And Her Daughter, Stuti Steal The Show At A Family Function)
Goldie had further shared how their friendship turned into love, "Initially, the affections were one-sided. She was in denial. I didn’t give up on her though. Even my mom asked me not to let go of her. She thought Sonali was an amazing girl. For the first time in my life, I heeded my mom’s advice and thank God for that. Long drives and heated political discussions were instrumental in strengthening our bond. And in no time we were seeing each other. I see no particular reason why she agreed to be with me but I’m glad she did. I believe the understanding and the compatibility I share with Sonali, I wouldn’t have had with anyone else in the world. We are so similar yet so different. We always have a lot to talk and share."
In the year 2018, when Sonali was diagnosed with metastatic cancer and had spent the larger part of the year in New York while undergoing treatment, her husband, Goldie was the one, who stood like a pillar of strength for her. At an event in 2019, Sonali had shared how Goldie had helped her fight cancer and had said, "Goldie has been my rock and pillar of strength to help me fight cancer. Thank God, I decided to get married to him. My mother always told me that human being matters more. Of course, there are times when you realise material things are also important, which gets you the treatment in the US, but even that cannot give you the joy the family gives and sees you through it. That is the most important thing." (Don't Miss: Nick Jonas Shares An Adorable Picture Of His 'Favorite Laugh' With Wife, Priyanka Chopra Jonas)
