Sonakshi Sinha Excited To Visit Abu Dhabi Mosque, Husband Zaheer Iqbal Jokes, '..Not To Convert Her'

Sonakshi Sinha and her husband, Zaheer Iqbal, have become a well-loved couple since they started sharing their candid, sweet moments on social media. However, their love journey hasn't always been easy. Belonging to different religious backgrounds, the couple has often talked about how they have been subject to trolling. But a recent light-hearted interaction between Sonakshi and Zaheer shows that they are taking the taunting in stride.

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal recently travelled to Abu Dhabi as part of a sponsored promotional trip. Abu Dhabi tourism had invited the two of them and prepared an itinerary for the couple. Sonakshi revealed in a vlog that the first place on the schedule was the Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque. The Dabangg actress expressed her excitement about visiting a mosque for the first time. She stated:

“Today we are in Abu Dhabi, and our trip here is going to be exceptional. Abu Dhabi Tourism has invited us to explore what the city has to offer, and they have planned the most amazing itinerary for us...I am very excited because this is the first time I will be entering a mosque. I’ve been to temples and churches before, but never to a mosque."

At this, her husband, Zaheer, made a cheeky remark that he wasn't taking her there to convert her. Sonakshi laughed at the joke and replied, "Special Marriage Act, zindabad!" For the unversed, Sonakshi and Zaheer did not have a traditional wedding with rituals from either of their faiths. Instead, they registered their marriage under the Special Marriage Act, which does not require either spouse to convert. In the vlog, Zaheer said:

“Just for clarity, I’m not taking her there to convert her. We are only going to see it because it’s very beautiful. They way we go to a temple or a church, we are just going the mosque to see it."

Sonakshi Sinha and Zaheer Iqbal have been featured in only one film together, which was the 2022 movie, Double XL. When the couple announced their relationship, followed by marriage, many people thought the two had met and fallen in love on the sets of their film together. However, the couple had met at Salman Khan's party and were dating long before they worked on Double XL. 

On June 23, 2024, Sonakshi and Zaheer got married at an intimate wedding at the actress's home in Mumbai. The newlyweds threw a lavish reception party, which was attended by many Bollywood celebrities like Sanjay Leela Bhansali, Kajol, Rekha, Salman Khan, and more. Recently, At the Vikram Phadnis fashion show, the couple's photos grabbed a lot of headlines for pregnancy rumours after Sonakshi was seen allegedly hiding her belly with her dupatta. She was also seen adjusting it to keep it in place. However, Sonakshi and Zaheer denied the rumours and have set the record straight that they aren't expecting.
