Saif Ali Khan’s stabbing case shook the industry in such a way that celebs began to worry about their own security. Celebrity couples were seen acting more protective about their kids as well. This list of celebrity couples included Alia Bhatt and Ranbir Kapoor, who came forward and requested the paparazzi not to click photos of their child, Raha. Recently, Bollywood actress, Soha Ali Khan, mother to a 7-year-old girl, opened up about Ranbir and Alia’s decision to refrain media from clicking pictures of Raha.
In a recent interview with News 18, Soha Ali Khan opened up about how she had discussions involving her kid with her husband, Kunal Kemmu, just like Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt. She said that nowadays, when parents request paps, they respectfully keep their requests. Recalling a past incident, Soha said:
“Of course, Kunal and I do have had such conversations too! But I feel that our relationship with the media, luckily, has been respectful. I remember this instance when we took Inaaya swimming and there were some paparazzi taking pictures. We requested them not to and they didn’t. We’ve now seen that if parents request the media not to click pictures of their children, they don’t. That respect exists here.”
In the same interview, Soha shared that it is important to have a conversation with kids to make them understand the influence of media in their lives. She also shared that maintaining privacy is also important. Addressing the same, she said:
“We’ve chosen to be public figures; our children haven’t. Therefore, I feel that they shouldn’t be affected by it. Having said that, it’s a part and parcel of life. We can’t fight against it. It’s more practical to accept it and to have that conversation with your child that there’s a certain interest in you and these strange people are taking your pictures because of a certain reason”
In the same interview, Soha extended her thoughts on how parenting has become difficult with the influence of social media. She also shared how it becomes more challenging for the celebrities. Addressing the issue, she mentioned:
“We should explain to them that they need not get worried or upset but if they’re uncomfortable with it, we should talk about it and figure it out. When it comes to us, there’s definitely that place to have this conversation. And with social media, parenting has come so much more challenging. We’re navigating a whole different world where and so, we’ve to be a source of love and support for them."
For those unversed, celebrity couple, Ranbir Kapoor and Alia Bhatt once requested the media not to click pictures of their baby girl, Raha, when she was born. Later on, the couple revealed their baby girl’s face on Christmas in 2023. Earlier this month, the couple again decided to keep their daughter, Raha, away from the media. This decision was made after Kareena Kapoor Khan and Saif Ali Khan asked the paparazzi not to click pictures of their children, Taimur and Jeh, after Saif was attacked in his home.
