"I spoke when I was spoken to, otherwise I felt like I was being a nuisance. I would often think to myself, ‘How dare I speak and break someone’s silence?’ I was always amazed when people around me spoke for 20 minutes at a stretch. I was mortally afraid of bloviating."

She also used to rely on fruit vendors to learn Hindi and overcome the language barrier. In her words:

"I felt like the luckiest girl. After lectures ended, I would take a bus or train back home and disembark at random stops to drink nimbu paani and just explore the place. I’ve spent several hours walking around Bhendi Bazaar, Reay Road, Old Dockyard and Vasai. In Vizag, every place is within 15 minutes of each other, but Bombay just astounded me geographically."

Sobhita, after her win saw that models got low pay and were not respected and then gave herself three years to master her craft in the entertainment domain. She then achieved success and quipped:

"I have been financially independent since the age of 20. I learnt things through trial and error, I’m an accountable person and am not easily carried away in these matters, my disciplined roots keep me grounded perhaps. Everyone must be emotionally, physically and financially self-sufficient since during or after college I believe. Irrespective of gender. It’s indispensable. How can one be woke when they’re lazy?"
