Smriti Mandhana, the vice-captain of the Indian Women's cricket team, made headlines due to her scheduled marriage with music composer, Palaash Muchhal. But destiny had other plans, and thus their wedding ceremony got postponed. After maintaining a dignified silence, recently, both Smriti and Palaash addressed the buzz. A day before yesterday, on December 7, 2025, Smriti unfollowed Palaash on Instagram and revealed that her wedding with him had been cancelled. What about her parents' reaction?
Smriti Mandhana is the daughter of district-level cricketer, Shrinivas Mandhana and Smita Mandhana. The last month was quite heavy for the vice captain of the Indian Women's cricket team as her father, Shrinivas, got hospitalised on the day of her marriage. He had faced heart attack-like symptoms and was admitted to the hospital. This family emergency brought a halt to Smriti and Palaash’s wedding that was scheduled to take place on November 23, 2025, at the former’s hometown, Sangli. Soon after the family emergency made headlines, social media got flooded with viral screenshots where Palaash allegedly chatted with other girls and cheated on Smriti.

However, both Palaash and Smriti chose not to comment on the matter. On December 7, 2025, the duo took to their Instagram Stories and shared separate notes to address the speculations surrounding the cancelled wedding. After that, the duo unfollowed each other on Instagram. Today, on December 9, 2025, we noticed that Smriti’s parents, Shrinivas and Smita Mandhana, are still following their ex-son-in-law, Palaash Muchhal, on Instagram. The music composer also follows them on IG.

On December 7, 2025, Smriti Mandhana took to her Instagram Stories and clarified that her scheduled wedding with Palaash Muchhal has been cancelled. She shared that, being a 'private person', she would like to keep things as they are. She expressed her wish to close this matter. She highlighted that the highest priority of her life was her game, and it will always be her focus. An excerpt from her note can be read as:
"Over the past few weeks, there has been plenty of speculation around my life, and I feel it is important for me to speak out at this time. I need to clarify that the wedding is called off. I believe there is a higher purpose driving us all, and for me, that has always been representing my country at the highest level. I hope to continue to play and win trophies for India for as long as possible, and that is where my focus will forever be. It's time to move forward."

On the same day, when Smriti Mandhana clarified that her wedding with Palaash Muchhal had been called off, the music composer also opened up about the rumours involving the cheating allegations. He, too, wrote a lengthy note on his Instagram Stories and tried to clear things up. Palaash shared that he has decided to move on in life. Reacting to the cheating allegations buzz, Palaash called his relationship with Smriti 'sacred'. An excerpt from his note can be read as:
"I have decided to move on in my life and step back from my personal relationship. It's been very difficult for me to see people react so easily on baseless rumours about something that has been most sacred to me. It's the most difficult phase of my life, and I will deal with it gracefully, holding on to my beliefs."
On December 8, 2025, Smriti Mandhana’s brother, Shravan, took to his Instagram Stories to share what his sister is doing currently after calling off her wedding with Palaash Muchhal. In the snap shared by Shravan, Smriti was seen in her cricket training jersey. She seemed fully focused on the game and waited to hit a sixer or a four. She will be next seen in a five-match T20I series against Sri Lanka.
