Social media has given a platform to the trolls, who don’t spare anyone these days and mostly facing the brunt of it are the celebrities. And we live in an era where, no matter if you are size zero or dealing with the post-pregnancy weight gain, a woman has to face fat-shaming and not being ‘perfect’. But strangely, there’s no such definition of being ‘perfect’ for B-town divas. While Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, Neha Dhupia had to face demeaning comments for her post-pregnancy weight gain, Sameera Reddy had become the target of hatred for flaunting her baby bump and Kareena Kapoor Khan, who had efficiently lost her post-pregnancy weight was trolled for looking like a ‘skeleton’. The keyboard ninjas sit behind the screens and target the celebrities with their hate bombs. Meri Aashiqui Tum Se Hi fame, Smriti Khanna becomes the latest one to join the list of the newbie mommies, who have been targeted with mean comments and were body shamed. It has been less than fifteen days since Smriti has delivered her baby girl and in no time, she got back to her old self. But to field off the haters with her no-damn attitude, Smriti took the matter in her hands and gave a befitting reply to the trolls.
On April 22, 2020, Smriti Khanna had posted the transformation collage of her pre and post-pregnancy selfie and we were awestruck with her drastic change. Smriti had captioned her post as “Amazed at what the human body can do!! 1st pic was taken one week before I gave birth. Second pic, a week after I gave birth. My inbox is flooded with questions from new moms and moms-to-be. I’ll try and make a video soon answering all of them. Thank you for so much love and blessings for our little one #postpartum #postpartumtransformation #newmom #mombod.” But instead of praising how amazingly she had transformed back to her old self, she became a target of trolls for editing and posting her throwback picture.
Smriti Khanna posted an Insta story to show the trolls their right place and it was a perfect example of HOW IT NEEDS TO BE DONE! Giving a befitting reply, Smriti had first posted a mirror selfie on her Insta story and had written, “For people who think these pics are old, you really think I will put a cot in my room even before getting pregnant?” followed by a laughing emoji atop it. Later, she has uploaded a video flaunting her post-pregnancy body and wrote, “To all the haters who think my pictures are edited” atop it. Smriti has also shared a mirror selfie on her Insta story, thanking her fans for their love. In an interview with SpotboyE, Smriti Khanna was asked about her post-pregnancy weight gain. To which, the newbie mommy had replied, “I am 9 kg up from my actual weight as I was very thin earlier, but hence it’s not really visible. I hope to lose these 9 kilos within the next 45 days.” Revealing what fitness regime she’ll be following to lose her post-pregnancy weight, Smriti had remarked, “At least for 6 weeks, I’m not supposed to do any sort of workouts, as has been suggested by my doctor. But yes, I am pretty active and have begun walking. In fact, the day I delivered, I took shower by myself in an hour’s time as it was a normal delivery. Now also, I’m not doing anything in particular to lose weight. Certain people have been under this impression that I’m doing something about it, but that's okay.”
When asked what fitness regime she had followed during her pregnancy that helped her to stay fit, Smriti Khanna had retorted, “Honestly, I didn't do any rigorous workout and being a foodie, I didn't compromise with my pregnancy cravings. I used to mainly control the quantity. I continued my walks till the last day of my delivery. I used to walk 6000 steps, if not at one go, then at least through the day, but I followed it rigorously. I also got pelvic girdle pain which was very bad. I remember main karvat bhi nahi le paati thi. Aur haan, I used to do yoga thrice a week and in lockdown, I continued doing it till the end online with the help of Zoom App. For pregnant ladies, Yoga helps a lot.”
If she had followed any specific diet plan, Smriti Khanna had revealed, “I didn't do any dieting because it's not advisable for pregnant women. My doctor had advised me to reduce the size of meals though and asked me to eat in moderate amounts at regular intervals- because the baby needs it that way. A lot of pregnant women have this myth that if you are expecting you have to eat double but that's not correct. In fact, you should eat healthy so that the baby gets the right amount of nutrients at the right time.” (Also Read: Smriti Khanna Is Back To Her Fit-Self In Just Six Days Of Delivering Her Baby Girl)
