Sky Force is one of this year's biggest hits, and after making its mark at the box office, the film started streaming on Prime Video on March 21, 2025. Directed by Abhishek Anil Kapur and Sandeep Kewlani, Sky Force is once again making a lot of noise on social media now that it is available on the streaming platform. For the uninitiated, Sky Force is based on India's first airstrike in the Indo-Pak 1965 war. The film features ace actors like Akshay Kumar, Veer Pahariya, Mohit Chauhan, Sara Ali Khan, and Varun Badola, who played leading roles.
Sky Force has fictionalised real-life war heroes by giving them different names. For instance, Akshay Kumar plays Wing Commander Kumar Om Ahuja (fictionalisation of O. P. Taneja), whereas Veer Pahariya plays Squadron Leader T. Krishna "Tabby" Vijaya (fictionalisation of Ajjamada B. Devayya). Although the film is about the airstrike that took place during the 1965 war, but it's fair to say that the spotlight is on Ajjamada B. Devayya, whose character in the film is played beautifully by Veer Pahariya.
Talking about the real story of Veer Pahariya's character, Squadron Leader Ajjamada B Devayya, it was the year 1954 when the latter was commissioned into the Indian Air Force. After being in the IAF for many years, he finally got the biggest mission of his life during the 1965 war. Back in that time, Ajjamada was serving as an instructor at the Air Force Flying College. When things went a bit downhill, Ajjamada and some other senior officers were called for an aircraft strike mission. The team was sent to Pakistan's Sargodha Airfield, and Ajjamada was told to be in the backup.
During the mission, things weren't going as per the plan, and it was when Ajjamada B Devayya took the command into his hands and brought down Amjad Hussain's PAF F-104 Starfighter that had done a lot of damage to the Indians. In the process of bringing down Starfighter, his plane also got damaged due to the Pakistani aircraft's high speed. As per reports, Ajjamada ejected from the plane and parachuted but eventually lost connection and his body was reportedly found near Sargodha.
After Squadron Leader Ajjamada B Devayya passed away in 1965, he became the first and only officer so far in the history of the Indian Air Force (IAF) who was bestowed with Maha Vir Chakra posthumously. After his passing, it was his wife, Sundari Devayya, who single-handedly raised their daughters, Smitha and Preetha Devayya. Despite being the wife of such an honourable officer, Sundari never came into the spotlight and lived a low-key life far from the media spotlight.

On January 12, 2025, Veer Pahariya took to his Instagram handle and shared a series of pictures featuring Ajjamada B Devayya's wife, Sundari Devayya and their daughters, Smitha and Preetha Devayya. The actor paid a visit to Sundari Devayya's residence and spent some time with the family, reliving the heroics of Ajjamada B Devayya. In his note, Veer Pahariya praised Sundari for showcasing strength and enduring hope after her husband's passing. Even at the age of 90, she still shares a deep bond with her late husband, and this speaks volumes about their unshakable bond. We hope we get to see more of Sundari Devayya's story in public, as it can inspire so many people at so many different levels.
