Iconic singer, Nayyara Noor is no longer with us, and the heartbreaking news is on everyone's lips. From performing ghazals and singing songs, Nayyara was considered one of the greatest singers of the subcontinent; such was her stature when it comes to singing. Nayyara was born in Guwahati, Assam, India back on November 3, 1950. She belonged to a merchant-class family, and her father was a member of the All-India Muslim League. After the partition, it was in 1958 when Nayyara Noor's family had decided to shift to Karachi, and the rest, as they say, is history.
From being the recipient of awards like the Pride of Performance Award by the President of Pakistan, Nigar Award for best playback female singer to winning 3 Gold Medal Awards at the annual All Pakistan Music Conference concerts, Nayyara Noor was one of the most celebrated singers of all-time.

On August 21, 2022, Nayyara Noor's nephew, Raza Zaidi confirmed the ongoing speculations and reports around the former's demise with a painful tweet on Twitter. The actor took to his Twitter handle and penned a heartbreaking note in which he mentioned that the reports about Nayyara Noor's demise are true and that the 'Bulbul-e-Pakistan' has left everyone for her heavenly abode. The tweet went viral in no time, and people from both sides, Pakistan and India, are deeply saddened by this tragic news. She was one of the few singers, who both Pakistanis and Indians loved. No wonder with her demise, a big void is going to be there in the world of music. Raza Zaidi's tweet can be read as:
"Beloved aunt (tayi) Nayyara Noor. May her soul R.I.P. She was given the title of 'Bulbul-e-Pakistan' because of her melodious voice. #NayyaraNoor."
If the reports are to be believed, Nayyara Noor passed away on August 21, 2022, in Karachi. The singer was 71 years old and was reportedly undergoing medical treatments for some time now. Nayyara is often regarded as one of the greatest Pakistani singers ever as she was awarded numerous titles and awards during her illustrious singing career. Some of her most famous songs are the likes of Phir sawan rut ki pawan chali, Kabhi hum bhi khoobsoorat the, Aey Ishaq hamay barbad na kar, and more. No doubt, her demise will create a massive void in the Pakistani music industry.

As soon as the news of Nayyara Noor's demise made its way into the headlines, the celebrities and netizens started dropping their deepest condolences in the way of her husband, Shehryar Zaidi and their kids, Jaffer Zaidi and Syed Naad-e-Ali Zaidi. People and celebrities from both Pakistan and Indian shared their disappointment on social media and shared their favourite memories of the iconic singer. However, it was popular actor-singer, Ali Zafar, whose tweet is doing rounds on Twitter at the moment, as he opened up about his last meeting with the nightingale of Pakistan. He had tweeted:
"Heartbreaking. I remember our last meeting and discussion at her place. She had moved beyond the worldly desires onto a serene and spiritual space with so much wisdom. She was our nightingale. May her soul rest in peace. #NayyaraNoor."
