Siddharth Shares He Rejected Films That Required Him To Slap Women, Netizens Call Him A 'Hypocrite'

Siddharth is an actor who is known for his ability to speak his mind without mincing his words. Recently, the actor was seen at the Hyderabad Literary Festival, where he spoke with his wife, Aditi Rao Hydari's mother, Vidya Rao, and discussed why he missed out on stardom. He shared that he avoided roles that featured toxic masculinity, which may have cost him some scripts.

Siddharth shared that he rejected scripts that required him to slap women

Siddharth, in the conversation, admitted that he had rejected certain roles, which led to him not rising higher in the industry. He revealed that he would often receive scripts that would require him to slap women or make demeaning comments to them. However, he turned them down. He added that he followed his instinct, knowing how it would impact his career, but he did it because the films did not align with his values. Siddharth was quoted saying:

"I used to get scripts where I’m slapping women, doing item songs, pinching somebody’s navel, telling a woman what she should do, where she should go, etc. I rejected them outright. Of course, I might be a far bigger movie star today if I was differently wired."

While the conversation went smoothly, as soon as it reached the discussion platform, Reddit, netizens chimed in to point out Siddharth's hypocrisy. They were not pleased with his statements and pointed out several instances where the actor had done the complete opposite of what he claimed. A user penned, "He used pretty vulgar language while referring to Sania Nehwal. So his holier than thou attitude is not justified by his actions." Another user wrote, "Watch his Aata movie with Ileana lmao, this man is a hypocrite. He tried hard to become a mass hero, but he couldn't."

However, that was not all. A netizen called him out and said he was only saying this because he couldn't get better roles. They wrote, "He did plenty of weirdo shit to women irl. He is only lecturing now because of sour grapes stuff, not cuz he genuinely cares about women." While another user shared a picture of his tweet about Saina Nehwal and stated, "Okay, Sidharth! But what stopped you from being a gentleman in real life? Not to forget his cheap tweet during Samantha‘s wedding as well as during her separation."
