Shweta Tiwari had gotten married to now a famous Bhojpuri actor, Raja Chaudhary when she was 19. After almost a decade of being in an unhappy and bitter marriage, she finally came out in the open and spoke about facing domestic violence with Raja and had opted for a divorce. 6 years later (in 2013), her world looked complete as she tied herself in the bond of holy matrimony yet again after she married another television actor, Abhinav Kohli, only to face the same wrath. In fact, a year back there were rumours that Shweta and Abhinav were living separately, but the couple had dismissed it later.

And yet again, a mishap is taking the centre stage in Shweta Tiwari and her daughter, Palak’s lives. As per a report by SpotboyE, Shweta has lodged a police complaint against her hubby, Abhinav Kohli, accusing him of domestic violence. The portal reported that on Sunday afternoon (July 11, 2019), Shweta and her daughter, Palak were ‘in tears’ and were screaming aloud at the police station, accompanied by the former’s mom. It was also reported that Abhinav had even raised his hand on his step-daughter, Palak, in a fit of rage!

Shweta Tiwari had apparently revealed that her hubby, Abhinav Kohli often remains under the grasp of alcohol. Soon after the complaint, he was brought to the police station at around 1 pm yesterday and the four of them (Shweta, her mother, Abhinav and Palak) were at the police station for at least four hours before they decided to take the problem back home and settle it amidst themselves. As soon as Shweta and her family left the police station, hushed whispers started doing the rounds. Neither Shweta nor the police chose to comment on the matter when reached out to them by the portal. This is extremely disheartening! When the news about Shweta Tiwari and Abhinav Kohli’s marriage hitting rock-bottom had initially surfaced on the internet, the latter had shared with SpotboyE, “Problems in our marriage are only rumours and there is no truth in them. I hope that after this, the rumour in question is buried forever. Shweta and I have not had any differences. We are staying together very happily.” The rumours of their troubled marriage grew stronger after a colleague of the couple had shared with a leading daily, “They are having a lot of opinion clashes about Abhinav's career and Shweta's success as an actress." When Abhinav was asked about the same, he had stated, “All is well between Shweta and me. I have never been insecure about her success. We are both focussing on our work and are in a happy space."

Shweta Tiwari too, in 2018, had elaborated on how rumours about the ‘trouble in her paradise’ had started and people used to call her asking 'Hey, is everything well in your marriage? We don’t see your husband with you.’ Shweta had then remarked, “Now, here people started noticing that I was going to parties alone and was not seen with him. Even after Reyansh was born, he used to come for some time and go back. So, people felt why are they not staying together? Some people had the nerve to even call me and ask, 'Hey, is everything well in your marriage? We don’t see your husband with you.’ Now, why should I tell people what happened? People need gossip. I felt so weird that just because my husband was away for some time, people found a reason to gossip and therefore I decided to stop giving any explanations to anyone."

After two years of break from her acting career, Shweta Tiwari had made her theatre debut with a play titled, Jab We Separated, which revolved around a fragile husband-wife relationship. Speaking about the same, she had stated, “There may be many plays around the husband-wife relationship, but what matters is the treatment. About marriage, I feel that many marriages are breaking up these days because people have options of getting out of it. Divorce is easy these days. First it was taboo... women were dependent on their husbands and at home. Now, they are independent, educated and not suppressed. So somewhere, husbands are not able to accept this and women have also become less tolerant. They feel it is better to leave a relationship and move on to someone else.” (Also Read: Neha Kakkar Reacts To Finding Love Again And Dating Vibhor Parashar Of Indian Idol 10, After Himansh)

Shweta Tiwari had further added, “Our play revolves around that idea; how you need to find ways to be together even if there is trouble. These days, people feel that if they move on with someone else, they will find happiness. But even that relationship will require adjustment, compromise and good communication. So, if you can mend your ways and save your marriage, why move on with someone else? You can’t keep doing that again and again.”

In a 2012 interview with the TOI, Shweta Tiwari had opened up about the ‘living hell’ that her marriage with former hubby, Raja Chaudhary had become and domestic violence. She had shared, “If our police (or law) can bail out the oppressed women from their torturous plight, then I don’t support these Gulabi Gangs at all. But, I think fear factor of the Gulabi Gang can serve as a strong deterrent to the harassing husbands of many women, who, despite being physically assaulted by their husbands, don’t want to take the matter to police or courts, because of which they keep on lumping their misery. (Laughs) Also, earlier if I was aware of their existence, I would have also approached them and requested, ‘Gulabi Gang, please come to my rescue and make him (Raja) gulabi!’”
