It is a universally acknowledged fact that a superstar‘s child would become an actor, and we don’t blame you for this! As the nepotism debate continues, there are many well-known faces of Bollywood who have followed the footsteps of their parents and went on to join the Hindi film industry. However, there are a few star kids who found their success behind the camera. One such celebrity is Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan‘s beautiful daughter, Shweta Bachchan Nanda.
Though Shweta Bachchan had been interested in acting since her childhood days, it was a couple of awful incidents which made her hesitant to join Bollywood ever in her life. Once Shweta had an electric shock on the sets of her daddy and the other time, she had a humiliating experience during a school play due to a malfunction in her costume. In a conversation with the ETimes, Shweta Bachchan revealed why her parents, Amitabh Bachchan and Jaya Bachchan, were so protective of her. Given the fact that Big B and Jaya both hail from small villages, their sudden rise in Bollywood had won them many fans across the nation. And when the two superstars married each other and became parents, it was the biggest news in the entertainment fraternity.
From media to paparazzi, everyone was eager to get a glimpse of Shweta and Abhishek. Talking about the same, Shweta said that it was an instinct of their parents to protect their kids from media attention and to do that, they had taken several steps. In her words:
“My parents are a lot more protective than I am, but that was a different time. My father and mother came from small towns in India and made their destinies in films. It brought them a lot of fame and recognition and for people who came from nuclear middle-class families, it’s a big change in life. So, when we were born, they had the instinct that we have to protect these kids because there was so much attention on them and it was a new way of life.”
In the same conversation, Shweta mentioned that she and Abhishek never had magazines at home. Moreover, their access to television was also limited.
