Pahalgam Attack: Shubham Dwivedi's Wife, Wore His Shirt For Final Rites, Asks CM Yogi For Justice

The Pahalgam terrorist attack has left the country distraught. Once known for its charm, picturesque hills and natural beauty, the place was filled with bloodshed, death and cries of 26 tourists who lost their lives in a terrorist attack. While their family members experienced an unforgettable trauma fueling rage across the country. Among those killed were several newly married couples, including Kanpur's Shubham Dwivedi, who tied the knot in February 2025. He was visiting Kashmir's Pahalgam with his wife, Eshanya, where he was brutally shot dead. His mortal remains were brought to Lucknow via flight that reached on April 23, 2025, at 11:30 pm, followed by his final rites on the next day.

Shubham Dwivedi, who was killed by terrorists in Pahalgam terrorist attack, was cremated on April 24, 2025, with complete state honours. His mortal remains were brought to Lucknow airport by a flight, and Deputy CM, Brajesh Pathak, along with Minister, Rakesh Sachan and Yogendra Upadhyay, arrived to pay his tribute. He was seen consoling Shubham's father, who was crying at the heart-wrenching moment. A green corridor was created to let the ambulance go towards his home. On the early morning of April 24, 2025, his funeral procession left his home for the Deori Ghat. Eshanya kept staring at her husband's photos, and his mother demanded justice at the painful incident.

Eshanya has been wearing her husband's shirt for two days and hugged it during the rituals. Thousands of people gathered at the funeral procession and raised slogans for justice. Eshanya along with Shubham's family, was seen crying profusely as his uncle lit his funeral pyre. Before the cremation, CM Yogi gave a tribute to Shubham and met his family members. He also met his wife, who asked him for revenge and began crying. Narrating the events that occurred during the attack, Eshanya said:

"Shubham and I were going to eat Maggi. Meanwhile, a man came from behind. He kept the gun aside and asked Shubham- Are you a Hindu or a Muslim? Then he said- If you are a Muslim, first recite Kalma. I asked him laughingly- 'what happened, brother?' Then he asked me, too- are you a Hindu or a Muslim? I said- I am a Hindu. After this, he shot my husband. First, he shot Shubham, and then he shot the rest of the people, too."

Shubham Dwivedi got married in February 2025 

Shubham Dwivedi, 31, used to live in the Chakeri area of Kanpur and worked for a cement company. He married Eshanya two months ago, on February 13, 2025, and the couple left for their trip to Jammu and Kashmir on April 17, 2025. Some of their family members accompanied the duo and were due to return on April 23, 2025. But, before they could come back, Shubham was shot during an attack in Pahalgam's Baisaran Valley. His uncle shared that the couple had left to go horse riding when the incident occurred.

A video of Shubham and Eshanya chatting with their family from their hotel has also gone viral. Shubham's uncle, Manoj, added that he received the tragic news over the phone from his brother and Shubham's father, Sanjay Dwivedi which left their family in distraught. Meanwhile, Sanjay demanded justice from the CM and mentioned that the terrorists had challenged the Indian government. He said:

"The worthless terrorist challenged the Indian government and left. The government should now take strict action. The terrorist told the daughter-in-law- I kept you alive so that I could tell Modi."

Pahalgam terrorist attack took place on April 24, 2025, when four to five members of a militant group attacked a group of tourists in Baisaran meadow near Pahalgam in the Anantnag district of Jammu And Kashmir. It included residents from different parts of the country. At least 26 tourists were killed, and more than 20 were injured. Meanwhile, the valley has been closed, and Indian authorities have launched a search operation to find the culprits.
