Shreyas Iyer has been admitted to the ICU following a serious injury to his ribcage. Amid that, his parents have reportedly applied for an urgent visa to be with him.

All the cricket fans have been concerned and worried after the news about Shreyas Iyer's injury broke out. For those who don't know, during the third and final ODI between India and Australia in Sydney on October 25, 2025. Shreyas Iyer hurt the left side of his ribcage. The incident happened while taking the catch of Alex Carey. Soon after that, he was admitted to the ICU. Now, there are reports that Shreyas' parents have applied for an urgent visa.

Since Shreyas Iyer has sustained a serious injury on ribcage and is in the ICU in a hospital in Sydney, reports have started to surface that his parents have reportedly applied for an urgent visa to be with him in Sydney. According to another report, the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is making full arrangements and trying their best to finish the paperwork soon, so that at least one of the parents can be with Shreyas Iyer in the hospital.

During the third ODI match in Sydney on October 25, 2025, Shreyas Iyer injured himself while taking the catch of Alex Carey. In that process, Iyer landed awkwardly to his left side, particularly his left lower ribcage, which triggered immediate pain. Soon, he fainted in the dressing room and was rushed to the hospital. He was admitted into the ICU.

However, a recent report by Hindustan Times claims that the cricketer is recovering well and has been taken out of the ICU. A statement by the BCCI was shared, in which they mentioned that even though, Shreyas Iyer had been seriously injured, he has responded well to the treatment and is out of danger. Their statement is:

"Shreyas Iyer sustained an impact injury to his left lower rib-cage region while fielding during the third ODI in Sydney. Scans have revealed a laceration injury to the spleen. He is under treatment, medically stable, and recovering well."

Before the injury, Shreyas Iyer was performing very well. It can be said that the cricketer was in full form. In the recent ODI, Shreyas Iyer performed really well. The first two days, he turned out to be an important batsman for the team. After the recent injury, a source close to the cricketer has revealed that he won't be available for the upcoming matches as he needs proper rest. The source was quoted as saying:
