Dipika Kakar is one of the most popular actresses in the Indian Television fraternity who is known for her TV shows like Sasural Simar Ka, and Bigg Boss 12. She has been through testing times after Dipika recently underwent a 14-hour tumour removal surgery. Although the surgery was successfully over, her fans were curious to know about what lies ahead for Dipika. To clear the air, Dipika and her husband, Shoaib, recently took to their social media and shared details about Dipika's future course of treatment.
Shoaib Ibrahim recently shared a new vlog on his YouTube channel and recalled the day when Dipika Kakar underwent her tumour removal surgery at Kokilaben hospital in Mumbai. He revealed why he was sitting outside the OT and waited for a single update from inside. In the video, the couple stepped out to visit the Hospital for a follow-up after her surgery. Shoaib said:
"I can't forget that date. I was sitting by the window, extremely stressed, with my friends by my side for support, just waiting for an update from the doctors. It's been a month since then."
After the duo met with the doctors, he guided them about the further course of treatment. The actor shared that the doctors earlier advised them that they would start any treatment after 6 weeks of the surgery. The actress is also advised not to do any weight training or Yoga, which includes stretching and has to follow a clean diet. Shoaib then revealed that Dipika's post-surgery biopsy showed that her tumour was more aggressive than they earlier thought. Consequently, despite the surgery, the actress has to follow a line of treatment. In the actor's words:
"It was a stage 3 tumour, and as per the medical term, it was poorly differentiated. It was quite aggressive and has a higher risk of recurrence."
When Dipika and Shoaib went for their follow-up appointment with the doctors, the actress admitted that she was nervous. The Bigg Boss 12 winner didn't know how her body would react to the treatment, what could be the possible side effects and whether she would be adjusted to her new normal. They also met with Dr. Imran Sheikh who has joined the team of her doctors. He confirmed that Dipika is recovering well from the surgery and can start light walking but should avoid any intensive physical activity like Yoga or weight training.
In the same vlog, Dipika Kakar shared that as a precautionary measure, the doctors have suggested targeted treatment. Unlike chemotherapy, which doesn't effectively work on liver cancer, targeted therapy includes daily oral medications. Shoaib mentioned that immunotherapy was also a potential option, but it would have made her feel tired fatigued and develop ulcers. Since the actress's body is presently cancer-free, they will be starting with targeted therapy, which will last for two years.
