Shloka Ambani is the badi bahu of the Ambani family, a doting mother and an accomplished businesswoman. While the Ambani family stays away from interviews and podcasts, Shloka, in a rare chat with influencer and entrepreneur, Masoom Minawala, opened up about balancing career, ambition, and motherhood. The businesswoman shared her journey as the co-founder of ConnectFor.
Shloka Ambani is many things: a good daughter, daughter-in-law and mother. However, with that, she has also maintained her own individuality and created a space for herself and her ambitions. However, balancing motherhood and a career can be a challenging task, and in a recent conversation, she opened up about it. She stated:
"I take a lot of pride in telling my kids that like mama has to go to office, you go to school, we're all doing things to make ourselves better. You're creating something that someone who you're fully invested in is going to be influenced by. I think that's the best legacy that you can leave behind for your kids."
In the same conversation, Shloka Mehta shared that her dream for her children and all the young ones around her is that they know all careers are acceptable. She added that they should know it's okay to do something that may take a while, even if it seems like a slow start, but they just have to go every day and believe that they are building something of value.
As ConnectFor celebrates its 10th anniversary, Shloka Ambani and co-founder, Maniti Shah reflected on their journey as entrepreneurs. She revealed that ConnectFor is like a matrimonial app, but for volunteers, and it works by connecting people who want to volunteer with nonprofits that need them. The app currently has 1 lakh volunteers, more than 1,000 nonprofits, and is saving NGOs over Rs. 21 crore through volunteer efforts. The platform has clocked 4.18 lakh hours of volunteering and now partners with 120 corporates and over 150 student groups across India. She stated:
"The social sector is not getting the credit it deserves. It's a vicious cycle. If you don’t have access to funding, you won’t attract top talent; and without talent, it’s challenging to meet your goals or make a meaningful impact. Who are we solving for? What is informing the decisions we make? There was no one to maintain them or educate girls on menstrual hygiene. So the problem just came back."
Shloka Ambani teamed up with her lifelong friend, Maniti Shah, for the project that is extremely close to her heart. Maniti has a background in biomedical science and consulting, and she was tired of corporate life when she reached out to Shloka Mehta in search of something more meaningful. She ended up co-founding ConnectFor. She stated:

"The idea of building something new is really exciting for me. To work in the sector, you have to be largely intrinsically motivated."
