Shilpa Shirodkar's Husband Quit NZ Job Amid Her Depression, Says, 'Wanted To Be Near Sister Namrata'

Shilpa Shirodkar was one of the rising stars in Bollywood during the 90s, where she got the rare opportunity to work alongside greats like Amitabh Bachchan, Mithun Chakraborty, Govinda, Salman Khan and more. But unlike other stars, her personal life and marriage have unexpectedly been away from the media attention. In a recent interview, Shilpa revealed an unpopular chapter from her life when she fell into depression after her parents' demise.

Shilpa Shirodkar reveals she moved back to India in the 2010s to be close to her sister

Shilpa Shirodkar took the vows with the love of her life, Aparesh Ranjit, in 2000, but hasn't talked much about him in the media. But, recently, she sat down for an interview with Pinkvilla and recalled that after marriage, when she was living a stable life with her husband and daughter, her husband had to quit his successful job in New Zealand to support her in her battle with depression. Recalling how she used to feel during those moments, Shilpa said:

"I didn't get films, and I didn't try either. I didn't even try for television either. In fact, when I came back to India, I wasn't in a great mental state. I had lost my parents, and I was in really bad depression. And I actually came back to India to be next to my sister (Namrata Shirodkar)."

Shilpa, who took a 13-year break after her marriage to focus on raising a daughter, shared that she wasn't thinking about rejoining films when she returned to India. Neither did she make any effort to ask anyone to give her work, nor did any photoshoot or PR activity to raise a buzz. Instead, she simply wanted to stay close to her sister. Recalling her frame of mind, Shilpa said:

"I didn't even know anything about PR at all, nor did I do a photoshoot or anything. My idea was only that I don't want to go back and want to stay close to my sister."

Shilpa Shirodkar shares that her husband left his successful career in London for her

In the same conversation, Shilpa Shirodkar shared that the time after her parents' demise was difficult for her to deal with. She was alone with her daughter and husband, Aparesh, who was working in a successful job at the peak of his career. On the other hand, her daughter, Anushka, was doing well in school and had a set of friends. However, they had to leave their well-settled life because she couldn't deal with her emotional turmoil after the loss. Recalling how her husband, Aparesh, is the reason for her success, she said:

"And I wouldn't have been doing this today, I wouldn't be sitting in front of you, if my husband hadn't been there. Because in 2010, when I decided to come back, Aparesh's career was at its peak, but he realised that I needed to come back, and he left everything and came back. He quit his job and came back and said, "Let's try something new."
