Shilpa Shirodkar has always been remembered as one of the charming faces of the '90s Bollywood era. She has appeared in films like Hum, Aankhen, and Gopi Kishan. In 2000, when she took a 13-year break for her family, fans praised her for the sacrifice. But recently, the actress opened up about the sacrifices her husband made.
Recently, Shilpa Shirodkar sat down for a candid conversation with the Film Window, in which she spoke about her 13-year break from Bollywood. While recalling the time in the industry, she shared that it was the best experience she has ever had. She mentioned about her long break and said that it was like a lesson that taught her a lot of things and made her strong. In her words:
"I feel those 13 years were a learning phase of my life, and it was a very beautiful experience. I think the bond I share with my daughter today might not have existed if I hadn’t taken that step. Living outside India is very tough — it made me very strong."
She continued to talk about her husband, Aparesh Ranjit and gave him the entire credit. She mentioned that her husband always used to appreciate her sacrifices but later when Shilpa’s parents passed away, Aparesh left everything behind and shifted to India with her. She shared:
"He has always told me that the sacrifices I made for him, despite coming from the background I did — are commendable. But I give him full credit. When I returned to India in 2009 after my parents passed away, I was emotionally vulnerable. He left his rising career for me and said, ‘I think we need to go back home.’ So we left everything and came back to India."
In the same interview, Shilpa Shirodkar recalled the incident of getting an offer from Bigg Boss. She explained that in 2023, when she turned 50, her husband had asked her what she wanted for her birthday and she had asked him to go back to India, as the couple were in London at that time. She revealed that their daughter, Anoushka had gotten an internship in Hyderabad and during that time, Shilpa wanted to stay with her and try to find work again.
Shilpa explained that once she reached India, she called a lot of people for work, but nothing worked out and after a while, she booked her return ticket. The actress shared that the day she booked the ticket, the makers of Bigg Boss approached her and she instantly said yes. In her words:
