On June 8, 2023, the Delhi family court ordered Ayesha Mukerji, to bring their son, Zoravar to India for a family gathering and mentioned that a mother alone does not possess all the rights over a child. Judge, Harish Kumar also stated that a father also has the right to meet his son, especially after such a long gap and deemed the cricketer's desire for his child to meet his grandparents as reasonable. Questioning Ayesha's reasons for not wanting Zoravar to meet Dhawan’s family in India, the judge said:

"The mother alone does not have rights over the child, why then is she opposing the petitioner meeting his own child when he is not a bad father? Blame for polluting the environment within the family has to be shared by both. A dispute arises when one raises concerns, and the other does not appreciate them or pay attention."

Shikhar Dhawan's family postponed their get-together date to accommodate Zoravar's school vacation

Shikhar Dhawan's family has not met his son, Zoravar since August 2020, and now they are hosting a family function. Earlier, when Dhawan pleaded that he wanted his son to join his family on June 17, 2023, for a get-together, his request was declined by the court owing to his son missing important classes at school. Moreover, Ayesha also claimed that the event would not be attended by many people so they also didn't need to come. So, Dhawan postponed the event to July 1 to accommodate the child’s school vacation, but Ayesha objected again, claiming that many extended family members were not consulted about the new date.

Delhi court warned Ayesha for questioning their jurisdiction

Further, the court also highlighted how Dhawan's wife, Ayesha urged an Australian court to put the cricketer on a watch list. Not just this, Ayesha was also slammed for questioning the jurisdiction of the Indian court last month regarding her child's custody case. Calling out Ayesha for her actions, the judge said:

"Her objection on the expense might be justified, and consequent objection might be alright but her unwillingness may not be justified. She has not been able to put forth what her fear is about the petitioner qua the child and why she approached the court in Australia to put him on the watch list. If the petitioner had intended to take the law into his own hands for taking the custody of the child, he would not have approached the court in India."
