Although the college authorities did not mention the name of the woman they suspect the 39-year-old, married man, Sherrone Moore, cheated with, the internet is abuzz with speculations of Paige Shiver being the mystery woman. Amid the buzz regarding the alleged infidelity, Paige Shiver's health troubles resurfaced.

Paige Shiver battled a rare muscular disorder

Paige Shiver suffered from an extremely rare muscular disorder, known as Pompe disease, which is progressive and often fatal. She was diagnosed with the ailment in 2015 and had suffered for years. Paige reportedly experienced excruciating pain during her marketing internship in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. She felt that the intensity of the pain was not normal, so she got a medical checkup, which led to her diagnosis. "Every day is a battle," she wrote at the time on her social media. Pompe disease impacts muscle function and mobility. This condition is a rare, progressive disorder affecting approximately one in 40,000 people.

Pompe disease causes significant muscle and joint pain, with which Shiver struggled daily. The genetic disorder also disables the heart and skeletal muscles in extreme cases. Paige Shiver's symptoms began in January 2015, during her junior year at Purdue University, when she started experiencing widespread pain and exhaustion. However, it was during her marketing internship days that she finally realised that the pain couldn't be taken lightly and she must seek medical help, which led to her eventual diagnosis. Paige Shiver was also profiled by the Chicago Bears in 2016 due to her inspiring battle with Pompe disease.

The Chicago Bears learned about Paige Shiver's ailment through her father, Jeff Shiver, who has been a NFL scout for decades. He is a veteran in football scouting and well-regarded. As per the Bears' report, Paige Shiver's condition required ongoing infusions and caused severe pain episodes. She tried several kinds of physical activities to ease the pain, including running, cycling, and lifting weights daily. Living with the desires became a way of life for Paige.

How did Paige Shiver get dragged into Sherrone Moore's alleged cheating case?

Paige Shiver was linked to Sherrone Moore's alleged cheating through unverified online speculation that surfaced after his firing from the University of Michigan. The university announced he was dismissed from his position as Michigan Wolverines' head coach for an "inappropriate relationship with a staff member," but did not publicly name the individual involved. Immediately after the university's announcement, social media users began speculating about the identity of the unnamed staff member. Online users claimed Paige Shiver, an executive assistant to the ex-head coach at the time, as the alleged woman involved. She had a recent 55 per cent salary hike, which added another element to the online scrutiny.

Fueling the speculation, reports noted that Shiver allegedly deleted or made her social media accounts private after the controversy broke, which many interpreted as a sign of her involvement. However, it is to be noted that the University of Michigan didn't officially confirm that Paige Shiver was the staff member they caught Sherrone Moore indulging in infidelity with, and Paige Shiver or her family has released no verified statements regarding the situation. The matter remains a product of internet speculation. The Michigan Athletic Director, Warde Manuel released a statement announcing Sherrone's contract termination, which could be read as:

"U-M head football coach Sherrone Moore has been terminated, with cause, effective immediately. Following a University investigation, credible evidence was found that Coach Moore engaged in an inappropriate relationship with a staff member. This conduct constitutes a clear violation of University policy, and U-M maintains zero tolerance for such behaviour."
