Sonakshi Sinha tied the knot with her long-term-boyfriend, Zaheer Iqbal, on June 23, 2024. The couple got married under the Special Marriage Act in a civil ceremony. Her wedding was the talk of the town as the diva married into a different faith. The situation got even more intense as Sonakshi Sinha's brothers did not attend the wedding, and Luv even shared a cryptic post on his social media account, shading the couple.
Shatrughan Sinha recently sat for a conversation with Retro Lehren wherein he revealed that he wouldn't complain about his sons not attending his daughter's wedding. He understands their thought process and the pain and confusion they went through. Maybe, if he was their age, he would have felt the same as marrying in another faith has a cultural reaction. But, as a father, he understood all his childrens' plight and situation and dealt with the situation maturely. In Shatrughan's words:
“I won’t complain. They are only humans. They maybe still not be so mature. I do understand their pain and confusion. There is always cultural reaction. Maybe, if I was their age, I might have had a similar reaction to it. But, here is where your maturity, seniority, and experience comes in place. Hence, my reaction was not as extreme as my sons.”
Shatrughan Sinha added that he would always support his daughter no matter what happened. She has never given him a reason not to, and she is a mature human. If she is sure about a boy, then who is he to go against her wishes? He always wants the best for her. People talk about women's empowerment so how could a life partner on their own be wrong. Shatrughan Sinha further added:
“Of course, I will support my daughter. I don’t have any reason to not to. It’s their life and their wedding. They have to lead a life. If they are sure about each other, who are we to be against it? As parents and as a father, it was my duty to support her. I have always been with her, and I will continue to be so. We speak so much about women empowerment, how is it wrong for her to choose her partner? Not like she did anything illegal. She was mature.”
Taking to his IG handle, on June 30, 2024, Luv shared a strong statement, slamming the online campaign against him. In his note, Luv expressed his disappointment over the rumours and mentioned that his family is his top priority. Not just this, Luv also shared a link to a news report titled, 'Against The Tide,' which talked about the rumours of Zaheer Iqbal's antecedents. The report mentioned that there was anxiety among the Sinha family about Zaheer's father, Iqbal Ratansi's proximity to a corrupted politician and his stint in Dubai.
Luv Sinha also opened up about why he chose not to attend his sister, Sonakshi Sinha’s wedding with Zaheer Iqbal, revealing that he didn’t wish to associate with certain people. He credited a specific media personnel for doing proper research instead of spreading false stories being put out by PR. In his words:

“The reasons are very clear as to why I didn’t attend and would not associate with certain people, no matter what. I’m glad a member of the media did their research instead of relying on creative stories being put out by a PR team.”
