Sharmin Segal Says She Keeps One Percent Originality In Her Acting, Netizen Pens 'Baki Ko Leke Dubi'

Filmmaker, Sanjay Leela Bhansali's niece, Sharmin Segal is seen as 'Alamzeb' in his recently released web series, Heermandi: The Diamond Market, which was premiered on Netflix. She played the role of Manisha Koirala's daughter and tried her best to portray the role of a shayar, a lover, and more. She has gained widespread love for her acting skills onscreen from her fans. However, a section of society unsatisfied with Sharmin's acting or facial expressions and nazakat in the series has badly slammed her.

Sharmin Segal mentions how she mixes one percent of originality with her acting skills onscreen

Now, we stumbled upon a viral video of Sharmin Segal, wherein she was heard keeping her opinion on how she does acting onscreen. The video clip was from the candid conversation of the entire star cast of the series alongside ENT LIVE. In the clip, Sharmin shared that she used to mix one percent of her originality alongside ninety nine percent of her acting skills to perform onscreen. She mentioned that if actors don't keep their originality in their acting, then he/she will not be able to give their best.

Moreover, she added that after the release of the film or series, whenever her friends used to mention that she was altogether a different person onscreen, she explained to them that her acting came out. However, according to her, each of her onscreen characters used to have at least one percent of 'Sharmin' always present in them. This way, she feels that the performance reaches completely to the audience.

Netizens slam Sharmin for her statements about her acting skills

As soon as the video surfaced online, netizens started reacting to Sharmin's statements. One social media user wrote, "Aur Behen wahi 1 percent original Sharmil Baki ki 99 percent Alamzeb ko le dubi." Another netizen mentioned, "One of the best depiction of nepotism is in the form of Alamzeb ..no acting no voice no expression no look and feel." One more comment can be read as "Konsi acting ki baat kar Rahi hai ye, isko robot movie ke sequel mein cast karna chahiye."

Sharmin Segal once addressed the constant backlash she is facing online

In a candid conversation with the BBC Asian Network podcast, Sharmin Segal opened up about the constant criticism. She shared her views on getting slammed for her acting skills and mentioned that if she starts taking that pressure on herself, that will be useless. Talking about the same, the actress highlighted the pressure she has undergone earlier and shared how she has, by this time, already started advocating for mental health and a happy life. Talking about her support system throughout the highs and lows, she said:

“If I start taking all that pressure on myself… I am a very strong advocate for mental health and living a happy life. So, I do want to do what I want to do and I would love for everyone to love Alamzeb. But, at the end of the day, there will be people who have to say what they have to say.”

When Rajat Kaul took a firm dig at Sharmin Segal's trollers

For the unversed, Rajat Kaul was seen in the role of 'Iqbal' aka 'Balli' in Heeramandi. In an interview with India Today, Rajat called out those who have been continuously dropping mean comments on Sharmin. The actor mentioned that people really need to learn to empathise with others. He added that in this way, they will become a bit wiser, enabling them to accept others' perspectives. He further stated that he doesn't want to comment on those who, to him, seem to be discontent with themselves. The actor remarked that people who criticise others actually reflect on themselves. The actor added that there's no control over such things, and Sharmin is no exception. However, according to him, Sharmin has contributed her fair share in the series, just like everybody else.
