As always, Sharmin Segal's claims made her a target of trolls, and she got mocked for comparing her acting skills to that of Meena Kumari. A user wrote, "Only person to bring Meena Kumaris anything to life was Richa, by working on her voice and those sad eyes. She matched her voice to Meena Kumari's poetry she said and really studied it. Meena Kumari was magical onscreen, no one can compare." Another commented, "Ye Meena Kumari-ji ke pairon ki dhul khaane ke layak bhi nahi hai. Meena Kumari was sick while shooting Pakeeza and was still so glorious, brought such angst.
