Ibrahim Ali Khan's debut film, Naadaniyaan, was met with harsh criticism from not just the audience but also the critics. The actor worked alongside Khushi Kapoor, but the viewers were not pleased with the film, and it received massive backlash for its 'cringe-worthy' dialogues and performances. Now, in a recent interview, the actor's grandmother, Sharmila Tagore, shared her honest feedback about the film.
In an interview with AnandabazarPatrika.com on their YouTube channel, Sharmila Tagore addressed the negative reviews the film had received from the critics. She admitted that the project did not live up to the expectations. The veteran actress revealed her grandchildren, Sara Ali Khan and Ibrahim Ali Khan, were doing a wonderful job paving their way in the film industry. She acknowledged that his debut film was not very good, but he tried his best. She was quoted as saying:
"Sara and Ibrahim are doing a wonderful job. Ibrahim’s film was not good, but he still looks very handsome. He has tried his best. These things shouldn't really be said in front of everyone, but honestly, the picture isn't great. Ultimately, the picture has to be good."
In the same conversation, Sharmila Tagore opened up about his granddaughter, Sara Ali Khan as well. She praised the actress for her dedication towards her work. Sharmila further shared that Sara is capable of doing more and she would one day achieve her full potential. She was quoted as saying:
"Sara is a good actress. She works very hard and is capable of doing a lot more. She’ll also achieve that."
During an interview with Nayandeep Rakshit, Ibrahim Ali Khan's aunt, Soha Ali Khan was asked if she had ever offered any advice to Ibrahim Ali Khan after he was trolled for his performance in Nandaaniyan. The actress revealed that she had offered her nephew two tips to shield himself from the trolls, one of which was to develop a thicker skin. Soha revealed how she reacted to Ibrahim being criticised for his performance and his looks. She responded by stating:

"Number one, I think you need to have thick skin when you join this world. One needs to digest people’s opinions or then don’t read the comments. But, I feel, sometimes, it’s important to read the comments because you can’t just work in a vacuum. You have to be receptive to certain criticism, and you have to work on your craft and go forward."
