The late legendary superstar, Shammi Kapoor was one of the most entertaining actors in the history of Indian cinema. The superstar had started his acting career with the 1953 film, Jeewan Jyoti and went on to do over 200 movies. Many of his films are still taught as a source of inspiration and knowledge in many film institutes. However, apart from his professional heights, it was the late actor's personal life that has always been a matter of huge curiosity among Bollywood buffs. In an interview, Shammi Kapoor's son, Aditya Raj Kapoor opened up about the same and shared some interesting anecdotes from his late father's marriage with Geeta Bali and Neila Devi.
For the unversed, it was on August 24, 1955, when Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Bali had got married in a sudden marriage at the Banganga Temples, Mumbai. In 1956 and 1961, Shammi and Geeta had become proud parents to Aditya Raj Kapoor and Kanchan Kapoor, respectively. However, sadly on January 21, 1965, Geeta Bali had died due to smallpox and had departed for the heavenly abode.

In an interview with ETimes, Aditya Raj Kapoor opened up about his late parents, Shammi Kapoor and Geeta Bali's love story. The doting son shared that his mother was a lively person and a part of her was always inside his father, even after her demise. Aditya also added that it was his mother, Geeta Bali, who had contributed to his dad, Shammi Kapoor's monogamous success in the film industry. He said:
"Trust me, the person who made my father such a big success was Geeta Bali. She gave him his style and personality. This was told to me by my Dad. She was a very vivacious person. She injected her personality into my father. She died very young and had a very small portfolio to present. But it was she who put him in the driver's seat."
Going further in the interview, Aditya Raj Kapoor was asked to recall the time his father, Shammi Kapoor had got married for the second time to Neila Devi after his first wife and Aditya's mother, Geeta Bali's demise. Answering this, Aditya had shared that his father hadn't said anything about his decision to get married again. He also added that he was only 13 when his father had got married for the second time. He explained:
"No, he did not tell us before he got married to Neela Devi. He married in the morning. We were kept at our aunt's place. I was down here for my winter holidays. I was 13. When I met him in the evening, he told me that Neela Devi is my mother. It was as simple as that."

In the same interview, Aditya Raj Kapoor shared his first reaction after meeting his second mother, Neila Devi and recalled what had exactly happened during his meeting with his father, late Shammi Kapoor's second wife. The businessman shared that he was extremely happy after meeting his second mother and also praised Neila for her decision to never have her own kids with his father. Aditya said:
"I went and hugged her. Ma mil gayi. I was very happy. Kamaal ho gaya. My second mother Neila Devi is a very compassionate lady. She decided to not have any children of her own. How many women would do that? And, to look after a crazy guy like Shammi Kapoor and his two kids wasn't easy, I bet!"
