July 19, 2021, had brought a storm in the life of the Shetty-Kundra family as Shilpa Shetty Kundra's husband, Raj Kundra, was arrested in the night due to his alleged involvement in the production of adult movies and publishing them through a mobile application. Since then, the business tycoon, his actress-wife, Shilpa Shetty Kundra and sister-in-law, Shamita Shetty, have been hitting the headlines.
Almost a month after her jiju's arrest, Shamita Shetty has made an entry into the reality show, Bigg Boss OTT. Though the actress has endured a lot of social media trolls after Raj Kundra's arrest in the pornographic case, Shamita did not shy away from grabbing the opportunity that came on her way. She also shared on the introductory episode what had triggered her to join the show.

On August 8, 2021, the first episode of Bigg Boss OTT was premiered on Voot select. In a promo shared by the show's fan page, Shamita Shetty was seen talking about being sceptical before proceeding with her participation in the show. While talking to the host, Karan Johar, Shamita said that it was due to her prior commitment that she had to join the show.
Stating the same, Shamita told Karan, “Waqt achcha ho, bura ho, jab hum saans lena nahi chhodte toh hum kaam kyun chhode? And honestly, Bigg Boss ka offer mujhe bohot time pehle aaya tha aur maine commitment kar di thi uss waqt."

Though Shamita Shetty did not directly talk about her brother-in-law, Raj Kundra's arrest in the pornographic case, she hinted at the controversies going on in the media about their family. She shared with Karan Johar that as so many things were happening around, this was not the right time to participate in the show. However, she was bound by her commitment that she never breaks.
Shamita further added, "Phir itna kuch ho gaya aur maine definitely socha ki shayad iss waqt Bigg Boss ke ghar ke andar jaana sahi nahi hoga but commitment kar di thi maine aur ek baar jo main commitment karti hoon toh main khud ki bhi nahi sunti."

For the uninitiated, Shamita Shetty was a part of Bigg Boss Season 3 but had to leave it in between owing to her sister, Shilpa Shetty's wedding to Raj Kundra.
