Ever since Shalini Passi made her debut with Fabulous Lives Vs Bollywood Wives everyone has been buzzing her name. The art collector from Delhi is known for her soft-spoken, demeanour personality and knows to wear her opinions on her sleeves. Recently, Shalini walked down the memory lane and shared how her mother was strict with her during her childhood and made her disciplined. The philanthropist also shared how her mother had threatened to send her to a boarding school if she found out that boys called her.
Shalini grew up in a very restrictive environment where her mom had certain norms fixed. During an interview with the Hauterrfly, Shalini explained how her mom used to tell her that if she found out that any guy used to call her, then she would be immediately sent to a boarding school. The threat was clear enough to keep most boys at bay, but Shalini found a clever loophole. In her words:
"So I told everybody, if you want me to go to boarding then you call me, However, that didn’t stop her from outshining the boys. She even gave out her phone number with one digit intentionally missing. They would keep asking, baar baar wahi poochte the number. Toh main ek digit miss kar deti thi. At least I know my number… just not the last digit."
When she was asked whether the boys tried the remotest combinations to crack the missing number, she revealed that they were not smart enough to figure it out. Well, Shalini's story does have a funny edge but subtly showcases the reality of the tough upbringing of Indian girls. Shalini's mother had certain parenting norms, and in today's day and age, relationships need to be built via trust rather than based on fear, especially for young adults.
Earlier, in an interview with Deepak Pareek, Shalini revealed that she hailed from Delhi and that her heart had always been for the city. When she was asked about whether she used any abusive language, Shalini replied that she does not abuse as she is a person if somebody says something or dig their nose, she immediately asks them not to do so because she picks things fast. Shalini's mom, who had an old-school parenting style, was strict. Shalini remembered:
"Similarly, if somebody is abusing, I say please don’t stay in front of me because I might…of course we all have at some point in our life, but I don’t. My mother used to put chilli powder in my mouth if I said bad things.”
For the unversed, Sanjay Passi's wife, Shalini, became a mother when she was merely 20. It was in the same interview where she revealed that whenever she used to go to a toy shop, she used to be excited and used to go crazy taking her son, Robin, to Disneyland for rides.
