Shahid Kapoor Takes An Indirect Dig At Kareena's Character, 'Geet', 'Who Can Ever Put Up With Her'

Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor were once the most sought-after celebrity couple in the entertainment world. Their off-screen love was quite visible in their on-screen chemistry. The duo never hid their relationship from the public, and she even turned a vegetarian for him. However, after dating each other for five years, the duo broke up, shocking their fans.

When Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor were cast in the popular film, Jab We Met, they were already facing troubles in their relationship. By the end of the film, the two broke up, however, the characters of ‘Aditya’ and ‘Geet’ played by Shahid and Kareena is still considered iconic. Though in the film, Shahid and Kareena had a happy ending, in real life, it was not the same.

Shahid Kapoor reacted to Imtiaz Ali’s statement on ‘Geet’ and ‘Aditya’ ending up with divorce

When the director of Jab We Met, Imtiaz Ali, was once asked about the present-day scenario of 'Geet' and 'Aditya', the filmmaker replied that the two would have ended up at a divorce lawyer’s office. In a recent conversation with The Indian Express, Shahid Kapoor reacted to Imtiaz’s comment and took an indirect jibe at Kareena’s character. Speaking about the same, he said:

“That’s actually a fun idea that Geet and Aditya are now breaking up because they are frustrated with each other. Aditya is like, ‘She is her own favourite, who can ever put up with her?’ If our filmmaker thinks these two will divorce each other, then who am I to come in between? I am just an actor.”

Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor’s love story

Kareena Kapoor was smitten by Shahid Kapoor's looks after he made his Bollywood debut with the film, Ishq Vishq. Soon, the duo soon started dating each other and painted the town red with their PDA. Shahid and Kareena were always vocal about their relationship, and their fans rooted for them.

Why did Shahid Kapoor and Kareena Kapoor break up?

After Shahid and Kareena worked together in the film, Fida, problems started to appear in their relationship. Soon after, Kareena started shooting for Tashan with Saif Ali Khan, and Shahid began filming Kismat Konnection with Vidya Balan, thus adding sparks to their individual linkup rumours with their co-stars. Kareena Kapoor and Shahid Kapoor ended their relationship during the shooting of Jab We Met. 

As per multiple reports, it was Kareena Kapoor’s mother and sister, Babita and Karisma Kapoor, who were not very fond of Shahid Kapoor and Bebo’s relationship. Although Shahid belonged to a well-known filmy lineage, they had felt that their families did not match and go at par with each other. The report stated that Kareena’s fondness towards Shahid was turning into an obsession as Bebo was then asking all of her directors to cast them together in films. In 2012, Kareena married Saif Ali Khan, and in 2015, Shahid got hitched to Mira Rajput.
