Sandeep Reddy Vanga is the mind behind Shahid Kapoor's Kabir Singh and Ranbir Kapoor's Animal. The filmmaker made two extremely controversial films and later revealed that he had also planned a crossover between the two. Sandeep sat for a conversation on the Game Changers podcast and revealed if it occurred to him to bring in Shahid for a cameo as 'Kabir Singh' in Animal.

The filmmaker revealed that he was at one point sure about the crossover but later dropped the idea. During the interview, Sandeep Reddy Vanga was given a situation in which 'Ranvijay Singh', Ranbir's character in Animal, is hospitalised, and Shahid Kapoor's 'Kabir Singh' is the doctor treating him. The director responded to the same and shared that he had thought about it and was willing to do it. He was quoted as saying:

"I did think about it. I thought I'll do it. I just discussed it and everybody on the shoot location said, 'It's a superb idea. You should do it. You'll get an extra Rs. 100 crore'. During Delhi shoot I got the idea that let's get Kabir Singh as one of the chief doctors, who will make decision, being a very aggressive doctor...He has to be aggressive to take a case like this to treat also. Get Kabir Singh"

Sandeep Reddy Vanga reveals why he dropped the idea of the crossover

In the same conversation, Sandeep Reddy Vanga explained why he dropped the idea of having a crossover between Kabir Singh and Animal. He revealed that he wanted to create a reality zone for the scene so it doesn't feel like a presentation scene. However, he was still unsure, but two days later, he was convinced about doing the cameo. He was quoted as saying:

"I felt I didn't want to go into cameo desperately. I thought that we are creating this reality zone but it shouldn't be like a presentation scene. For entertainment, add music and bring Kabir Singh. I was 50-50. For two days, I was completely convinced, 'Let's do it'. After that, I said no."

In the same conversation, the filmmaker revealed that Sandeep Reddy Vanga revealed that for 'Kabir Singh' to be a part of the film, the situation must be dire. He shared that, and if they somehow made the situation fit, it wouldn't remain as realistic, which was against what he had in mind. Elaborating on the situation, he stated:

"It's such a serious discussion, doctors are saying your heart is gone, lungs are gone, kidneys are gone. Unke beech mein agar Kabir aayega toh bohut light hoga. Jo suffering hai...the discussion will not be very realistic if I get a filmy character in a film."
