Bollywood’s heartthrob, Shahid Kapoor is all set to grab the limelight with his upcoming action drama, Deva. Ahead of his film’s release, the actor engaged in a candid discussion with Raj Sharmani, discussing parenting, his childhood experiences, and his thoughts on the unpredictable nature of the acting profession. In a surprising turn of events, Shahid shared that he does not want his kids to pursue acting when they grow up.
Shahid Kapoor married Mira Rajput on July 7, 2015, in a private wedding ceremony in Delhi. The couple had their first child, Misha Kapoor in 2016, and in 2018, they had their son, Zain Kapoor. In a recent chat with Raj Sharmani in his podcast, Figuring Out, the Kabir Singh actor admitted that he doesn’t wish for his kids to follow in his footsteps. He was heard saying:
“Kaafi saari cheeze hai, that I do not want them to take from me, I want them to be more confident inherently, which I think they both are. I wasn’t inherently that confident. Ideally, I wouldn’t want them to do my job, picture mein mat aana yaar. Kuch aur karo, Bohot up and down hota hai yaar, bohot rough hai. If they want to, it’s their choice, but I would be like, choose something simple, this is too complex.”
Shahid further shared some valuable insights on parenting, revealing the things he would try to do for his children. Reflecting on his strong moral values when it comes to kids and parenting, Shahid said:
“Always do the right thing, I always try and do the right thing, whether I am liking it, whether someone else is not liking it, whether it is damaging to me, doesn’t matter, I'll do the right thing."
The actor also spoke passionately about his upcoming film Deva, directed by Rosshan Andrrews. Slated for release on January 31, 2025, Deva is Shahid’s venture into the mass entertainment genre. At the trailer launch event, he called it one of the most challenging projects of his career. Talking about his upcoming release, Shahid shared:
“For many years, people were telling me to do a massy film, something that resonates with the masses. For me, this is the next step in my journey. It’s been one of the most challenging films of my career. There’s so much in Dev’s character that I don’t want to reveal just yet—you’ll have to watch it on January 31."
