On November 30, 2025, popular West Indies cricket player, Andre Russell announced his IPL retirement through a heart breaking video shared on X (formerly Twitter). For the unversed, Andre had been an important part of Kolkata Knight Riders since 2014. As soon as his retirement news went viral, the co-owner of KKR, Shah Rukh Khan penned an emotional note for him.

Soon after ace cricketer, Andre Russell announced his IPL retirement, Bollywood superstar couldn’t hold back from writing an emotional note for him. SRK took to his X handle and replied to Andre’s post. He recalled the good memories of the cricketer with KKR and appreciated his powerful game on the field. 'King Khan' further wished him luck as Andre is all set to return as the Power Coach of KKR. Shah Rukh Khan’s post can be read as:

"Thank you for the wonderful memories, Andre. Our Knight in shining armour!!! Your contribution to @KKRiders is one for the books… and here’s to another chapter in your fantastic journey as a sportsman… The power coach - passing down the wisdom, the muscle and of course the power down to our boys in purple and gold… And yes, any other jersey would indeed look weird on you my man... Muscle Russell for life! Love u… on behalf of the team and everyone who loves the sport!!"

Andre Russell announced his retirement

A few hours ago, Andre Russell shared a video on his X handle, which broke quite some hearts online. In the video, he announced his IPL retirement and shared that he is all set to return as the Power Coach of Kolkata Knight Riders. Along with the video, the 37-year-old all-rounder also penned a long and heartwarming note, which can be read as:

"Hanging up my IPL boots… but not the swagger. What a ride it’s been in the IPL- 12 seasons of memories, and a whole lot of love from the @KKRiders family. I’ll still be smashing sixes and taking wickets in every other league around the world. And the best part? I’m not leaving home… you’ll see me in a new role, in KKR’s Support Staff, as the Power Coach of 2026. New chapter. Same energy. Forever a Knight."

Andre Russell is a popular all-rounder, who began his professional career by playing for Jamaica in domestic cricket. His powerful game can be described by strong batting, athletic fielding and pace bowling. In 2014, he rose to widespread fame, when he joined KKR.
