Shah Rukh Khan Reveals The Reason For Making His Debut At The Met Gala, Says, 'I Have Little...'

2025 has been a big year for the ‘King of Bollywood’ as he made his debut at the iconic fashion event, Met Gala, this year. The dazzling looks of Shah Rukh Khan wearing a Sabyasachi ensemble are already hitting the headlines. However, SRK’s shocking revelation behind his Met Gala debut is also doing rounds on the Internet. The superstar shared that he was quite nervous prior to the fashion event, and it was his kids and designer, Sabyasachi, who boosted his confidence to take part in the global event.

Shah Rukh Khan revealed that his kids wanted him to make the Met Gala debut

King Khan’s Met Gala look wearing a Sabyasachi couture is already winning hearts. But what if you are told that your favourite superstar was a bit hesitant to make a debut at the iconic fashion event? Yes, you heard it right. The Bollywood superstar made a shocking revelation prior to the Met Gala event. The King of Bollywood shared that he was quite nervous and felt like running away from the fashion show. He also shared that he is too shy to flaunt his looks at such a global event as the Met Gala. However, on his kids and his designer’s insistence, he made his debut at the Met Gala 2025. Speaking of the same, Shah Rukh shared:

"I’m very nervous and excited. I’m actually very shy… I was wondering if I could just run away from this now. I have kids who are very excited about the Met. I don’t know if I would have come here on my own, but when Sabyasachi suggested it, my kids went ‘wow’. I didn’t know if it was ‘wow’ for me though."

King Khan wore a floor-length elongated coat made of Tasmanian superfine wool that included Japanese horn buttons. Underneath the long black coat, Shah Rukh donned a deep V-neck shirt and paired it up with tailored superfine wool trousers. Keeping in mind this year’s Met Gala theme: ‘Superfine: Tailoring Black Style’, SRK’s fashionwear made by designer, Sabyasachi connects the shared histories of Black and Indian dandyism.

The ‘King of Bollywood’ was seen flaunting a dandy cane crafted in 18k gold with sapphires, tourmalines, old mine cut, and brilliant cut diamonds. Shah Rukh accentuated his look with a custom stack of talismanic chains. The oversized 'K' pendant, represented his famous name ‘King Khan’ which became a highlight of his look. Apart from that, he wore multiple rings. Shah Rukh also accessorised his look with a diamond star-sized brooch from Sabyasachi's signature accessories collection. He also wore a luxury watch.

Fashion designer, Sabyasachi also shared his thoughts behind making SRK’s fashion outfit for the Met Gala this year. The Indian designer shared that when it comes to the theme of the fashion event and the person who is appearing at the global event, the creation has to be exquisite. Talking about styling SRK's outfit, Sabyasachi said:

“Shah Rukh Khan is probably one of the most famous men in the world, and his fan following is legendary. We nearly had a stampede outside the hotel when we came out. When you get a man like this on the red carpet, especially when it is Black Dandy, representation is the most important thing. And we wanted to represent Shah Rukh Khan as Shah Rukh Khan and nobody else.”
