Shabana Azmi Shares Being In Awe By Rekha's Response To A Fan Who Asked For Autograph

Veteran actresses, Rekha and Shabana Azmi ruled the screens back in the 1970s. It has been more than a decade since both of them shared a warm friendship. Shabana never misses a chance to wish Rekha on her birthday by dropping a post on social media. However, recently Shabana shared that her friend, Rekha's response once to a fan left her stunned, who had asked the breathtaking actress once for an autograph.

Shabana and Rekha have had an old friendship. The duo do not meet often, but when they do, it is like a house on fire. As they pick up on the old threads, where the knots are not tied. Shabana has seen Rekha as a bubbly, impulsive girl transform into someone who has had an enigmatic aura. During a recent interview with Filmfare, Shabana shared that she remembers so many incidents of Rekha. She used to be very, very candid. Shabana shared how Rekha has always had an aura around her fans. In her words:

"I remember one thing so clearly and so I think this is the public persona. She and I were in a plane. Somebody said ma'am, ma'am, can you give me an autograph? From here her face changed into this distant star and she said, 'I'm talking. Can you wait a bit?"

All that Shabana uttered was, "Oh! My God." She was stunned to look at this transformation in this one moment and said that this was the way a star always needed to behave. Shabana also said that Rekha was always warm and loving. 

When Shabana Azmi shared that Rekha was spontaneous all the time

Shabana, earlier in an interview with the same publication, remembered how Rekha used to drop by her place spontaneously. Curious to the point of being almost inquisitive, Shabana called Rekha a sponge that absorbs everything around her. And in that lies her strength. The senior actress added:

"She is a rare combination of being elusive and unpredictable on the one hand and being warm and very appreciative on the other. Recently at an awards function, she performed non-stop for 20 minutes around 3.30 am and hit the ball straight out of the stadium. When she sets her mind to doing something, she pulls out all the stops till she achieves it."

Rekha earlier in 2025, was seen at the special screening of Dabba Cartel that had Shabana along with Jyotika, Gajraj Rao, Nimisha Sajayan, and Shalini Pandey. Rekha received a heartfelt welcome from Shabana, and the duo exchanged pleasantries in front of the paps. Rekha's charm and beauty are timeless, and she has been the queen of Bollywood for aeons. Her dance moves and acting skills have left a forever mark in the industry with her work in Silsila, Ijaazat, and Umrao Jaan. Rekha has been in the industry for decades, and her charm is just evergreen.
