Selena Gomez and Justin Bieber were the ‘it couple’ in 2010. Even though they were in an on-and-off relationship repeatedly, what they shared seemed much more than a mere teenage fling. Justin and Selena finally called it quits once and forever in 2018, after eight years of being in a relationship.
After Selena, Justin started dating Hailey Baldwin the same year. They even got married in September 2018. This hasty step by the Baby singer angered a considerable section of the ‘Jelena’ (Justin+Selena) fans. While their fans resented Justin’s marriage with Hailey, on the other hand, Selena had to quit social media in order to get over the painful incident.

In 2018, Selena Gomez held the title of the most-followed woman on Instagram, which she still holds, with over 429 million followers on the social media platform. However, she deleted the app and handed over her account to an assistant. In a recent interview with Fast Company, Selena revealed that her split with Justin Bieber in 2018 was why she also decided to part ways with Instagram. She said:
“I had just gotten my heart broken. I didn’t need to see what everyone was doing.”
The 31-year-old Who Says singer also mentioned that she used to receive 'cruel comments' regarding her body. She admitted that some people on the internet used to remind her that she no longer had the teenage body, and the sample sizes did not fit her any more at that time. She said:
“Then there were those moments of not feeling positive about how I looked because of what I’d see on Instagram. Wow, I wish my body looked like that. None of the sample sizes were fitting, and that would make me feel embarrassed. Although how unrealistic is it to expect a normal woman’s body not to change?”

After Selena's ugly split from the Canadian singer, Justin Bieber, she was diagnosed with bipolar disorder. The Rare Beauty founder, however, made public comments about her disorder two years later in 2020. She explained that the thought of being open about the same would lead her to freak out as she thought she might be judged and lose work. She said:
“I grew up being a people pleaser. I had a responsibility at a very young age – young people were looking up to me. I didn’t know who I was. Having that responsibility would make me walk on eggshells a lot. I thought maybe it would be damaging to tell people who I am. It started to become a threat that freaked me out. Well, if you’re not right, then you can’t work.”
Selena Gomez, who enjoys massive fan-following all over the world, also said in the same interview that she considers herself a 'best friend' of her fans. She said that the world needs literal goddesses like Beyonce and Adele, but she likes being a bit silly and fun. She said:
“I’m not unattainable. I look at someone like Beyoncé, and I am amazed. My jaw drops. Every part of her is just impeccable, and it’s just so beautiful. But I’m just not that, and that’s okay. I’m me, and I’m a little silly, but I also like being sexy and fun, and I also want to do good with the time I have here. We need goddesses like Beyoncé and Adele. But I’m just happy to be your best friend.”
