Veteran actor, director and writer, Seema Pahwa is set to appear on a podcast with Shardul Pandit on an upcoming episode of Uncensored With Shardul . Recently, Shardul took to his Instagram to promote a snippet of the podcast in which the actor raised a serious question about the value of talent in the modern entertainment industry.
In the promo video, Seema Pahwa expressed her concerns about the proliferating 'disease' of social media influencers in the film industry. She agreed when the host compared the current state of acting to a crowded market where anyone can open a vada pav shop, suggesting that the profession has become overly accessible. She remarked:
“Humein lag raha hai, humein to chale hi jaana chahiye chhor ke is field ko.”
Seema Pahwa lashed out at how easily social media influencers are taking over the acting scene. To think that actors with years of experience in the industry would be expected to work alongside them is something that she cannot accept. Seema Pahwa expressed her disbelief by saying:
“You have earned fame by putting 20 reels. It took me 50 years to do that. How are you standing equal to me?”
Towards the end of this short promo, Seema Pahwa expressed contempt for the film industry for welcoming new faces based on their likes on social media. She added:

“I am sad to say this to my industry, casting directors and producers, that you can't do this… Audiences are looking at these reels… These producers are saying that this is a famous face, (and) his liking has increased a lot. Take him in your film.”
Most netizens seemingly agreed with this point of view, saying things like 'Well said Seemaji' and 'Truly from the heart!'. However, some expressed concerns about Seema Pahwa's 'disease' comment, labeling it as 'unfair, unbalanced and too myopic'.

A distinguished artist, Seema Pahwa has played some iconic roles like 'Badki' in the TV series, Hum Log . In recent years, she gained recognition for her roles in Dum Laga Ke Haisha , Bareilly Ki Barfi, and Gangubai Kathiawadi . The actor made her directorial debut in 2019 with the film, Ramprasad Ki Tehrvi .
