Saweety Boora, who has been an Arjuna awardee and former world boxing champion, has been going through a rough patch. She has logged an FIR Against her husband, Deepak Hooda and accused him and his family of assaulting her for dowry. For the unversed, Saweety Boora married Kabaddi player, Deepak Hooda, who is also an Arjuna awardee, in 2022. After two years of marital bliss, she filed a complaint against him.
On February 25, 2025, an FIR was lodged on the basis of Saweety's complaint. The SHO of the women's police station revealed that they had sent notice to Saweety's husband, but he had not turned up. When PTI reached Deepak, he stated that he had been having health issues as he was in trauma after the incident. He said:
"I have submitted a medical certificate and requested a later date. I will certainly go there (to the police station) but I won't make a negative comment against my wife. I have not been allowed to meet her."
The case has been registered under Section 85 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, which pertains to a husband or relative of the husband for cruelty against the woman. Further, the SHO revealed that there had been allegations of assault and dowry that had been levelled against Deepak by Saweety. She said:
"A demand for a luxury car was made and met, but her husband beats her, also raises monetary demand."
Deepak Hooda has played in the Indian Kabbadi team, which won a gold medal at the South Asian Games in 2016 and a bronze at the 2014 Asian Games. He has also been a part of Pro Kabaddi League. On the other hand, Saweety is a World Boxing Champion. She is known for her honesty and her wit on social media. She is quite active on her Instagram handle and often shares glimpses of her work life.
