Satish Shah had the brilliance to make his fans laugh their hearts out. After getting his breakthrough in the 1994 cult classic, Jaane Bhi Do Yaaro, Satish proved his versatility multiple times. Be it ‘Simon Gonsalves’ in Kabhi Haan Kabhi Naa, ‘Professor Madhav Rasai’ in Main Hoon Na, or the coolest ‘Indravadan Sarabhai’ in Sarabhai vs Sarabhai, there is hardly any role that Satish couldn’t pull. However, being an actor comes at a price, and Satish too faced it at a crucial moment in his life.
In a throwback interview with a leading daily, Satish once spoke about a crucial moment in his life when humour was the last thing on his mind, as he was in a difficult situation. Revealing the shocking incident, Satish recalled:
“My wife was seriously ill and fighting for her life on the operating table. We had been married for just three months. I was sitting outside the hospital, worried and tense, when a man came up to me and said, ‘You’re looking too serious. Crack a joke!’”

In the same interaction, Satish revealed that he felt like punching the man, but instead kept his cool and walked away. In his words:
“The biggest problem in India is that people can’t differentiate between a person and an actor. They think we should always be funny, no matter how serious the situation. At that moment, I felt like punching him. But I controlled myself and walked away. That’s the burden we carry as actors, people forget we’re human too.”

Satish Shah was one of the most talented names in the entertainment world, and there is no doubt about it. However, despite graduating from the prestigious Film and Television Institute of India, Satish faced rejections in the early stages of his career due to his unconventional looks. He didn’t fit the traditional mold of a hero, villain, or comedian, which made it hard for him to get work. But the actor soon gained love and fame with the TV show, Yeh Jo Hai Zindagi, and since then, there was no looking back for him.

Satish Shah bid adieu to the world on October 25, 2025, at the age of 74. The cause of his death was kidney failure. He was rushed to the Hinduja Hospital, and the medical research team has issued an official statement about the actor’s death. They shared how, despite giving the best medical facility, CPR in the ambulance, Satish could not be revived.
