Sara Ali Khan On Taking Criticism Positively Since Childhood, Says Trolls Doesn't Bother Her

Sara Ali Khan is the first child of Bollywood actor, Saif Ali Khan with his ex-wife, Amrita Singh. The couple also has a son named Ibrahim Ali Khan. Saif and Amrita parted ways in 2004, after 13 blissful years of marriage. Sara had made her Bollywood debut with the movie, Kedarnath, starring the late actor, Sushant Singh Rajput in 2018. She is just five films old and we love how gracefully she has made herself a part of everyone’s life without the help of her superstar parents.

It is a known fact that over the years Sara has transformed from a chubby baby to a fit babe, and she has proudly accepted both sides of herself. And now the daughter of the Nawab family of Bollywood, Sara Ali Khan bags the top spot as one of the highest-paid debutants of Bollywood. There’s no denying that Sara has gained a lot of popularity, not only in Bollywood, but she also has a huge number of followers on various social media handles.

In an interview with the Hindusthan Times, the Atrangi Re actress, Sara Ali Khan mentioned that she takes criticism positively and said:

“If somebody says, ‘Oh, you were too unnecessarily loud here’, it’s my job to make sure that the next time I’ve to take a loud pitch, I should be convinced and be able to convince you about it. So, I don’t take criticism badly at all. I read reviews, I reflect on them and I try to make sure that people can appreciate work in the future if they haven’t right now."

Talking about the same, Sara Ali Khan gave reference to the trolling she had faced earlier and explained that she doesn't break her mental peace due to them. Sara said:

"If I’m being trolled for my work, it affects me, because I’m making films for the audiences. So if they’re not liking it, it’s a problem. But, if I’m being trolled for saying what I am being or being who I am, then I don’t really care. My mental peace doesn’t depend on what people say. You should learn and aspire for appreciation but there’s a difference between appreciation and validation. In the confusion of the two is where most people get lost and I think I understand that difference.”

Further, in the same interview, Sara Ali Khan talked about her feelings for an OTT release over a theatrical one. Keeping in mind, the increasing number of cases of Covid-19 and Omicron, she mentioned that being mere actors, success depends upon the quality work and not on the medium on which it is released. She stated:

“It’s divine justice somehow that in 2020, the only good thing that happened (for me) was Atrangi Re, and 2021 ended with Atrangi, and I’m beginning 2022 talking to you about it. I’ve realised that agar junta ka pyaar milna hota hai toh woh kahin bhi mil jaata hai. I really missed the theatres, which I do. But, ultimately, we make films so that people watch, enjoy and appreciate them. If I’m able to do that, medium where it happens is not as important to me. If your content is strong, and your actors are honest, OTT or theatres don’t matter.”

Further, Sara Ali Khan explained her character, ‘Rinku’ in Atrangi Re. Sara mentioned that while playing the character she has also lived Rinku’s life as ‘Rinku’ isn’t a heroine, she is someone with whom her fans could relate their lives with. But despite this fact, some people didn’t like the film, Sara mentioned that she takes criticism positively. Talking about the same, the actress retorted:

“Times are changing and nowadays, it’s less about being a heroine and more about performers. I think that people have liked Rinku’s character because she’s not a heroine. She’s a girl from Bihar, and I’ve not done a hero act; I’ve genuinely lived her life and portrayed it on screen. That way, Aanand Ji had very strong content and that worked.Ever since I was a child, I’ve really enjoyed criticism. Of course, I enjoy appreciation also But I’ve realised early in my life than more than the happiness that successes give you, the learnings that failures give you teach you far more in life.”
