The Pataudis surely know how to celebrate special occasions just right! Be it a lavish bash at the Pataudi palace, an intimate celebration at their Mumbai residences or getaways and vacations to their favourite holiday destinations, for them, it is all about spending time with the family. Despite their hectic work schedules and the fact that everyone stays in a different city or is travelling outdoors for shoots, they make sure to take out time to spend with family. Sharmila Tagore’s birthday celebrations on December 9, 2020, was proof that even a pandemic cannot stop them from making their closed ones feel loved on their special day. The Pataudi family left no stone unturned to make Sharmila Tagore feel loved and special on her 76th birthday. The day had begun with heartfelt wishes from the family and in the evening, Sharmila’s doting daughter, Soha Ali Khan organised a virtual birthday celebration. For the same, Soha twinned with her little girl, Inaaya Naumi Kemmu in black. The mother-daughter duo had looked adorable in a black slip dress. The virtual celebrations were joined by Saba Ali Khan and their other family members. Sharing a screenshot of the video call, Soha had put a “Happy Birthday” sticker atop it.

Though Sharmila Tagore had spent her 76th birthday away from the family this time due to the pandemic as Saif Ali Khan, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Soha Ali Khan, Kunal Kemmu, Ibrahim Ali Khan, Taimur Ali Khan and Inaaya Naumi Kemmu were in Mumbai, her granddaughter, Sara Ali Khan made up for everyone. Sara made some special arrangements for her Badi Amman, Sharmila for her 76th birthday and giving a glimpse of the same, she wrote, “Happy happy Birthday Badi Amman. Thank you for being my pillar of support, guiding force and inspiration. I love you lots.” For the birthday celebrations, while Sharmila looked graceful as ever in a red kurti set with a black jacket, Sara donned a peach salwar kameez.
Sharmila Tagore’s 76th birthday had begun with a beautiful wish from her eldest daughter, Saba Ali Khan, who revealed her favourite memory with her amma. Saba had posted a picture of the magazine cover in which the mother-daughter duo had posed together and were all smiles for the camera. Saba had captioned the post as “HAaPpY Birthday... My favourite memory of us! Lots of love...” Saba had also posted an IG story with a collage of Sharmila’s pictures and added a ‘Happy Birthday’ sticker on it. Then came a wish from Sharmila Tagore’s son-in-law, Kunal Kemmu, who posted an IG story to wish his mother-in-law. Kunal had posted a picture with Sharmila from the last year’s birthday celebrations, adding a ‘Happy Birthday’ sticker on it. Kareena Kapoor Khan too, had wished her beautiful mother-in-law with a throwback monochrome picture of the veteran actress. Kareena had captioned her post as “To one of the most coolest and strongest women I know... happy birthday my beautiful mother-in-law.” Soha Ali Khan had posted an array of pictures of Sharmila’s birthday celebrations from every year. She had captioned her post as “We always managed to spend birthdays together but this year has kept us apart. When we meet and may that be soon, we will celebrate all the moments we have missed and be thankful for all the love we have. Happy birthday Amman! See you soon.”
In an interview with SpotboyE, Sharmila Tagore had spoken about how impressed and proud she is of her granddaughter, Sara Ali Khan. Revealing the moments when she felt proud of Sara, Sharmila said, “I am very impressed by her… though I don’t see why her self confidence should surprise me. But whether it was Koffee With Karan, Rajeev Masand, BBC…her confidence humility and charm made me so happy… it’s so heartwarming to see her the way she has turned out. When asked what she’s doing in films after going to Columbia University she said the education was for her growth as a person and not for career. She’s never tongue-tied.
