Sanjeev Juneja is one of the most prominent names in the FMG industry. The dynamic businessman is the founder of the SBS Group of Companies. The entrepreneur is also known as the Brand Machine, courtesy of the many successful brands that he has built in recent years. Sanjeev Juneja’s father was an Ayurveda practitioner

The founder of SBS Group of Companies, Sanjeev Juneja is the son of late Dr. I K Juneja and Usha Juneja. The entrepreneur grew up in a family which was deeply rooted in Ayurveda. His father was a respected Ayurvedic practitioner in Punjab and passed his decades of knowledge about the same to his son, Sanjeev.

Right from the beginning of his childhood days, Sanjeev Juneja was quite inspired by his father's dream of establishing an Ayurveda-based company. After getting all the information and knowledge about Ayurveda from his father, Sanjeev embarked on his own entrepreneurial journey. He was motivated to make his father’s dream a reality but suffered a major heartbreak when in 1999, his father passed away.

Despite the unfortunate loss of his father, Sanjeev Juneja remained determined and founded Sanjeev Pharmaceuticals back in April 2001. As per multiple reports, Sanjeev took a loan of Rs. 2000 from his mother to kickstart his entrepreneurial journey. The initial years were challenging, as expected, as he had to approach retailers, door-to-door and shop-to-shop, to sell his Ayurvedic products in the market.

But Sanjeev Juneja’s determination to make his father proud was so strong that despite many obstacles, he laid the foundation for his successful business. In 2003, he established his company, beginning with the production of Royal capsules, which turned out to be a hit among customers.

When Sanjeev Juneja made a hair oil after he faced hair loss

Sanjeev Juneja was slowly and steadily moving upwards in his entrepreneurial journey, but he experienced a significant turning point in his career back in 2008. the entrepreneur started experiencing hair loss, and as a result, he developed an Ayurvedic formula for himself in order to stop hair fall. The solution turned out to be extremely effective, and it was then Sanjeev thought of commercialising the same. He named the hair oil Kesh King.

The sales of Sanjeev Juneja’s Kesh King started increasing tremendously as his branding focused more on hair health than styling. The sales exploded when Sanjeev appointed renowned actress, Juhi Chawla, as his product's brand ambassador, Kesh King. The sales saw a jump from Rs. 6 crores in the first year to Rs. 13 crores in the second year, followed by an impressive jump to Rs. 29 crores in the third year.

When Sanjeev Juneja sold Kesh King to Emami for Rs. 1,651 crores

The success of Kesh King caught the attention of the major FMCG company, Emami, and what happened next changed the fortunes of Sanjeev Juneja forever. When Sanjeev’s firm registered a sale of Rs. 300 crores in 2015, Emami approached him and offered him a sum of Rs. 1,651 crores for Kesh King. The entrepreneur agreed and invested a huge sum in his other business ventures.

How Sanjeev Juneja got the title of ‘Brand Machine’

After the gigantic success of Kesh King, Sanjeev Juneja didn’t stop and built a series of household products that just became a part of Indian households. Some of the most famous products made by him are the likes of Pet Saffa, Dr. Ortho, Sachi Saheli, Roop Mantra, Accumass, Madhumani, More Power, Rajsee, Cough Rahat, Eye Mantra, Tulsi mantra, Itchku, and Dantmani.
