Sanjay Leela Bhansali's Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar has dominated all the headlines with its larger-than-life portrayals. The star cast of this series did proper justice to the roles, which had helped the series to reign in the no. 1 spot as the most-viewed Indian series globally on Netflix. While each of the actors and actresses has been receiving love and appreciation for their master-class performances, it was Bhansali's niece, Sharmin Segal, who received constant backlash, and her acting skill was tagged as 'poor' by the viewers. However, Heeramandi is all set to be back with its second season, and netizens have been reacting to the same.
OTT giant, Netflix, in a collaborative post with Sanjay Leela Bhansali's production, dropped a mesmerising video to announce the second season of Heeramandi: The Diamond Bazaar. In the video, the dancers can be seen taking up the street and performing bits of the dance sequences from the series, including the Gajagamini walk and more. The dancers can be seen dressed as courtesans, and the audience on the roadside cheered for them as they performed beautifully.

As soon as the video was dropped, netizens rushed to the comment section and expressed their joy over it. They also expressed their concern about Sharmin Segal being a part of season 2. For the unversed, Sharmin played the role of 'Alamzeb' in the series, and a certain section of viewers remained unimpressed with the same, so they do not want Bhansali to repeat his niece in season 2.

As per a report by DNA, Sanjay Leela Bhansali also talked about the idea behind Heeramandi season 2. In an interview with Variety, Sanjay Leela Bhansali stated that it takes a lot to make a series, especially something like Heeramandi. He also added that from the release of Gangubai Kathiawadi till the release of season 1 of Heeramandi, he had continuously worked on the series.
Talking about the idea behind season 2, SLB mentioned it would possibly feature the tawaifs' journey to the film industry from Lahore. The second season will be about the way the tawaifs moved back to India from Lahore to settle in the Mumbai film industry or the Kolkata film industry. Bhansali added that their journey would be the same, but this time, they would dance and sing for the producers rather than the nawabs. Sanjay mentioned:
"In Heeramandi 2, the women now come from Lahore to the film world. They leave Lahore after the partition and most of them settle in the Mumbai film industry or Kolkata film industry. So that journey in the bazaar remains the same. They still have to dance and sing, but this time for the producers and not for the nawabs. So that's the second season we are planning, let's see where it goes."
