When Rajkumar Hirani directed Sanju starring Ranbir Kapoor had hit the big screens, it had given a sneak peek into the personal life of Sanjay Dutt, son of Sunil Dutt and Nargis. Sanjay’s biopic had given a clear picture that being a celebrity is not a cakewalk and it comes with its own pros and cons. While the film had thrown light on the relationships of Sanjay with Sunil Dutt, Nargis Dutt and Maanayata Dutt, some prominent relationships were remained untouched. Sunil Dutt’s daughter, Priya Dutt followed her father’s footsteps and joined politics. Priya is also managing the Nargis Dutt Memorial Charitable Trust (NDMCT), which was started by Sunil Dutt, in the memory of his wife, Nargis Dutt who had died from cancer in 1981. When Sanjay Dutt had made an appearance on The Kapil Sharma Show, he had revealed that in prison, he used to make paper envelopes and had started a radio show. Sanjay had gotten 10 paise for one envelope, which he had used to buy Raksha Bandhan gifts for his sisters, Namrata Dutt and Priya Dutt. Though Sanjay, Priya and Namrata share a beautiful relationship but they had their share of ups and downs during the journey.

On August 28, 2020, to mark his sister, Priya Dutt’s birthday, Sanjay Dutt posted a picture with her and penned a heartfelt wish. Sanjay thanked Priya for being a constant in his life and wished her all the happiness of the world. Sanjay captioned his post as “Thank you for always being a constant in my life. I wish you all the happiness of the world. Happy Birthday @priyadutt.”
To mark Raksha Bandhan 2020, Sanjay Dutt and Priya Dutt had posted beautiful pictures reflecting their brother-sister bond. Expressing that though younger to him, but Priya and Namrata have always motivated him throughout life, Sanjay had written, “Although younger to me, you two have always been my biggest support system, motivating me and being there for me throughout my life. I love you both so much. Happy Raksha Bandhan @priyadutt @namrata62.” Priya had recalled how every obstacle in their life had made their relationship stronger and had captioned her Raksha Bandhan special post, “We have been a lot through life but our bond just got more solid each time. Sanjay Dutt is diagnosed with lungs cancer and his pillars of strength, wife, Maanayata Dutt and sister, Priya Dutt have been accompanying him to the check-ups and treatment at the Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital. Reportedly, Sanjay will fly to the US with Maanayata and Priya as he had procured a five-year visa for the US on medical grounds, and will be admitted to the same hospital, where his mother, Nargis had battled pancreatic cancer.
In Sanjay Dutt’s biography written by Yaseer Usman, Sanjay Dutt: The Crazy Untold Story of Bollywood’s Bad Boy, his sister, Namrata Dutt had revealed that their mother, Nargis Dutt had tried to be strict with Sanjay during childhood but would end up succumbing to his demands. She had said, “Mom sometimes got angry with Sanjay. She’d spew expletives like suwar, ullu, gadha and even throw a chappal at him.” Sanjay’s sister, Priya Dutt also recalled one concern her mother had, she recalled an incident where Nargis ji thought her son was gay. Talking about the same, she was quoted, “Once I heard Mom say to a friend, “Why is Sanjay’s room always locked when his friends are there? What is the big deal?
