Sanjay Dutt had shared a warm rapport with his mother, Nargis Dutt and was the most pampered kid among his siblings. The most promising actress of her era, Nargis had left her super stardom to raise her kids, Priya, Namrata and Sanjay. Sanjay’s sister, Priya had always felt that their mother was a little biased towards him. Just before the release of Sanjay Dutt’s debut film, Rocky, Nargis had succumbed to pancreatic cancer and her untimely death was the biggest shock of his life.

We stumbled upon a throwback video of Sanjay Dutt, where he had talked about the taped messages of his mother for him. In the video, Sanjay had said, “When my mother died I did not cry, I had not emotions.” He further revealed how after two years of Nargis’ death, one of his friends had played her last recorded message from her deathbed for Sanjay and he had burst out into tears. Sanjay had elaborated, “I heard my mother’s voice when she was at a NY hospital telling me things, how much she loved me, how much she cared for me and I cried for four-five hours.”

In the voice recording, Nargis could be heard saying, “More than anything, Sanju, keep your humility. Keep your character. Never show off. Always be humble and always respect the elders. That is the thing that is going to take you far, and that is going to give you strength in your work.” Nargis’ last words had completely changed him as a person.

In the same interview, Sanjay had opened up about the things he had learned from his mother, Nargis, and had stated, "The most important thing is to be a good human being. Everything else comes after that. I learned from both my father and mother. I'm passing it on to my kids. I hope my wife doesn't pamper my children the way my mother did me. My wife tells me if the kids don't hate the parents when they are growing up, there is something wrong with their parenting. I am tough to my children when I want to be tough."
