As she entered the third trimester of her pregnancy, Sania is physically keeping herself active with walking, playing and yoga. Sania is currently in her hometown, Hyderabad and is enjoying chilling out on the last days of her pregnancy. India’s gutsiest sports star shared a picture of herself sitting and relaxing on her chair and looking out of the window. She captioned it, #moments with a heart and pregnancy woman emoji. Here’s the picture that she shared:
In April 2018, Sania and her husband, Shoaib Malik announced the pregnancy on their social media handles and shared the last name of their child. After 8 years of marital bliss, Sania and Shoaib are now gearing up to welcome their first child, Baby Mirza Malik. Speaking about the same at the Goa Fest 2018, Sania expressed that her child would not only take his/her father’s family name (i.e. Malik) forward but will have ‘Mirza Malik’ as the surname. Sania stated, “Today I will tell you a secret. My husband and I have spoken about it and we have decided that whenever we have a child, the child will have Mirza Malik as a surname and not just Malik. So that’s where we stand as a family including my husband. He actually wants a daughter.”
In an interview with the Mumbai Mirror, Sania Mirza shared her mommy diary and talked about her workout, diet, and some pregnancy tips. The 31-year-old tennis icon believes, “While every woman’s body reacts differently to pregnancy, it’s unfair to think that you are handicapped for nine months. I’d recommend using this time to prepare your body for the changes that are going to happen in the following months. Begin by staying active and live a normal life; that’s what I did.” Sharing the best part about her pregnancy, she remarked, “Now, I’m just giving my body the rest it needs and waking up whenever I feel like — usually between 9 am and 10 am — so that I feel refreshed. Since sleep at night is hard to come by, especially in the third trimester, there is no point in stressing yourself out in the morning.” (Also Read: Seven Months Pregnant Sania Mirza Playing Tennis With Sister Anam Mirza Is Inspiring In Every Sense)

About practising yoga, Sania shared, “Yoga isn’t just for the body but for the mind as well — it keeps you physically and mentally fit which is crucial at this stage. The asanas you practice, especially in your second and third trimester, teach you to breathe correctly during labour.” She further added, “Before becoming pregnant, I used to push my body to perform even when I experienced pain but I don’t any more. It took a while to train my mind that I won’t be able to do even five per cent of what I could before and that it’s okay. With pregnancy, priorities change and you have to adapt to the fact that your body is altering while creating something within and that it requires energy. In my case, I had to relax and refrain from routine activities — everybody’s ‘routine’ is different — which were hyper.”
Sania Mirza has a support team which includes a massage expert for prenatal massages (two to three times a week), a dietician who guides her at every step and a yoga instructor whom she follows diligently. Reminiscing about the time when she gained more weight during her pregnancy than she should have, she managed to get back on track with her team’s instructions. She shared, “For a smooth pregnancy, you need prenatal experts who know what’s right or wrong for you at each stage.” (Also Read: Soon-To-Be Mom Sania Mirza Shares Her Pregnancy Craving And She Loves Eating It Like Never Before)
She went on to say, “My dietician says this is the time that the body craves for things it lacks. So when it asks for something too often, maybe you should oblige. I’ve been off processed sugar for the last 3-4 years so thankfully, I don’t miss sugar as much. But when I long for it, I have it in small quantities.” Sania shared her pregnancy diet and said, “I included a lot of greens in my diet — something I wasn’t having enough of. My mother ate an apple a day for both her pregnancies and I do that too.”
Talking about her pregnancy cravings, Sania snacks on energy bars made from jaggery and dry fruits, and she also manages to drink one glass of milk daily. She stated, “Calcium is a big must in the third trimester. What you eat reaches the child, so eat what you feel like but make sure it is healthy. I also have a lot of yoghurt because it is great for acidity and because I don’t like milk. Plain yoghurt is non-fattening, has no sugar and full of calcium. Regardless of whether you are pregnant or not, my dietician recommends flaxseed for everyone and I get my fix through roasted flaxseed crackers with an Indian spice tadka.” (Also Read: Sania Mirza's Sister Anam Mirza Is Super-Excited To Be 'Maasi', Shares Picture With Soon-To-Be-Mom)
