'Sanam Teri Kasam's Re-Run Crosses Lifetime Collection Of Original Run At Theatres

Harshvardhan Rane and Pakistani actress, Mawra Hocane's 2016 romantic film, Sanam Teri Kasam, was re-released on February 7, 2025. When the film was released in 2016, it could not make an impact and only made Rs. 91 crore when it ran. When the film was released again in 2025, it proved to be a major hit and surpassed the lifetime collection in about two days.

Sanam Teri Kasam's re-release had an impressive start

When it was released, Harshvardhan and Mawara's film had made only Rs. 8 crore net in 2016. When the film was re-released on February 7, 2025, on the opening day, it made Rs. 5.14 crore. In 2016, on day 1 the movie had made Rs. 1.3 crore on the first day, as per an India Times report. On February 8, 2025, the movie saw a further 15% rise and Rs. 5 crore was further added to the net total. On day 3 that is on February 9, 2025, the movie in total made Rs. 15 crore net.

The romantic tragedy movie beat new releases like Khushi Kapoor and Junaid Khan's Loveyapa to Himesh Reshammiya's, Badass Ravikumar. In the recent past, even Laila Majnu, Karan Arjun, and Kaho Na Pyaar Hai saw re-releases, but Sanam Teri Kasam got a different level of acceptance from the fans. The film became the highest-grossing Hindi movie on the opening day and saw the second-biggest opening among all the re-releases in India.

Sanam Teri Kasam's re-release on Valentine's Day week

The re-release of the film was well-matched during Valentine's Day week, which drew romantic movie lovers to the theatre. The re-release has made Harshvardhan the new chocolate boy in the movie industry. The fan base of this film has always been loyal because of the brilliant storyline and songs that will move you. The film was directed by Radhika Rao and Vinay Sapru, and the stellar cast included Manish Chaudhari, Pyumori Mehta Ghosh, and Divyetta Singh, apart from Harshvardhan and Mawra.

Sanam Teri Kasam's storyline

Interestingly, Harshvardhan and Mawra made their Bollywood debut with this 2016 movie that tanked at the box office. However, when the romantic film was re-released, it moved everyone to tears in the audience. The movie's storyline revolves around Inder, a successful lawyer. Standing under the tree, where his beloved, Saru, was buried, he remembers her. 

In the film, Saru is shown to be rejected by boys and Inder is also an ex-convict. He falls in love with Saru, they face a lot of misunderstandings due to which her family disowns her. Inder helps Saru get a makeover, but when her suitor leaves her with the promise of marriage, Saru and Inder become close. Saru is later shown to have cancer that has no cure. Saru and Inder get married and later she passes away in Inder's arms, leaving him choked with silence and grief for life.

It is said that the movie is a modern rendition of Shiva and Shakti and is loosely based on the novel titled, Love Story by Eric Segal. Sanam Teri Kasam was produced by Deepak Mukut production.
