After her recent revelations about her ongoing health struggles, Bigg Boss OTT 3 winner and actress, Sana Makbul, took a bold stand against online trolls who have been body-shaming her for gaining some weight over the past few months. Taking to her social media handle, the actress shut down fans who criticised her for her appearance.
In a recent series of Instagram videos, the former reality star slammed online haters for commenting on her weight gain and appearance. Sana was bold in her stance against trolls, addressing the criticism about her body head-on. She also urged people to be more compassionate before making such comments. She said:
“Hi guys, so a lot of you have been telling me ki moti dikh rahi hoon, gaal bahar aa gaya hai. To be very honest, pehle yeh cheezon ka farak padta tha, but ab farak nahi padta hai. Yeh meri body hai aur meri marzi main kaisi bhi lagu — moti, sukhi, patli, or even like a balloon. It’s my choice. And I think I look fab and I am fab. So kisiko bolne se pehle uske baare mein jaan lo — ki woh kisi cheez se guzar raha ho ya koi medical reason ho.”
In a heartfelt conversation on Bharti Singh’s podcast, Sana Makbul revealed that since 2020, she has been battling autoimmune hepatitis, a serious liver condition in which the body’s immune system attacks its own liver cells. Sana explained that while her condition is similar to Samantha Ruth Prabhu’s (who has myositis, which affects the muscles), hers leans more towards Lupus, an inflammatory disorder that can impact the kidneys or cause arthritis. She shared:
“A lot of people don’t know that I am an autoimmune hepatitis patient… I have a liver disease. It was diagnosed in 2020. There are no specific symptoms of my condition. In this, my body's own cells attack the organ. In my case, it is sometimes Lupus, which can affect the kidneys or lead to arthritis. Samantha Ruth Prabhu has myositis, which primarily affects the muscles. For me, it impacts my liver. I rely on steroids, immunosuppressants, and other medications… I’m unsure if this can ever be fully cured."
During the conversation, Sana also spoke about how damaging misinformation on social media can be, especially when it comes to health. Describing the conflicting treatments and opinions available online and the impact of social media, Sana shared:
“Social media messes with your mind. I continue to have my bad days.”
Meanwhile, on the professional front, Sana Makbul has continued to push forward. Since her impressive win on Bigg Boss OTT 3, the actress has been featured in several music videos, including one with Bigg Boss 18 winner, Karanveer Mehra and another titled Bhamai alongside her close friend, rapper Naezy.
