But there’s one subject that is often neglected in our country since so many years, and that is postpartum depression. And the only celebrity that has come forward to talk about this in public is Bollywood actress, Sameera Reddy, who has motivated a lot of women in the country with her inspiring story. Recently, the actress talked about it again in a podcast, and it’s worth listening without a shadow of doubt.

Recently, the Bollywood actress, Sameera Reddy was invited by JioSaavan for their special podcast, Raising Parents. The sole purpose of the podcast is to talk about the expectations and pressure that a lot of young parents are facing after entering into the parenthood. Thus, reflecting on the same, Sameera talked about the challenges that are coming with the parenting of 2020 generation and said, “Parenting is not an easy journey with the 2020 generation. It’s the only role you play with no script in place. Going further in the same podcast, the actress also added that digital platforms have helped immensely in tackling this topic, which has been neglected since a very long time in our country. She explained, “I think just knowing that there are so many parents who face this day in day out, really helps. Being aware, and knowing you are not alone helping. Digital platforms are spreading awareness on these topics is growing and this seems like a great idea for parents to just unwind, learn and connect with so many parents across the country.” Well, there’s no doubt that people have started recognising that it’s a severe problem and quite traumatic for the mothers, who couldn’t be able to get the correct therapies and medications on time.
For the uninitiated, Sameera had married her long-term beau and entrepreneur, Akshay Varde and had embraced motherhood for the first time on May 24, 2015, when she had welcomed her baby boy, Hans Varde. After the birth of Hans, Sameera had gone into postpartum depression and had completely disconnected herself from the world. Her sudden weight gain was a concern that she couldn’t deal, with and during her depression, she had quarantined herself for more than one-and-a-half years. But with courage and love of his family members, she had overcome that phase, and on July 12, 2019, she had welcomed a little princess and named her, Nyra, and since then, she’s inspiring and helping other women to beat the postpartum depression.

In a conversation with 100 Hours 100 Stars, an initiative of Fever Digital, Sameera had opened up about her postpartum depression and how she’s preparing herself for the COVID-19 lockdown. First and foremost, the actress had talked about the difficulty she had faced during her depression phase and how she had quarantined herself for more than one-and-a-half years. Talking about the same, she had revealed, “For me, my darkest period was post giving birth the first time -- call it a post-partum blues or depression.
